I have 2 coolrunner which are not working . on one no green light on the other IC2 Gets really hot . I have tried everything but i think there is a bad component on the board . any idea why ic2 is heating up . I put the 1st one in a jasper it did not work then i put it in a slim and it still did not work im able to prog it but it wont flash green light when i replaced the coolrunner i see xell in 20 secs . so i know for a fact these boards are bad . i even swaped ic2 of the bords and the 2nd one still heats up so im sure its not the ic2 but something else . any help on how to salvage them would be great . im guessing a bad cap but which one ?

any help appreciated

Thanks

the 1st one i stuck on . but the 2nd one i did not stick at all so i wonder why its getting so hot . i guess i will use my continuity tester to see if any thing is broken and re solder using jumper wires . Thanks for the info . is there a circuit dia for the same.

I spent a whole day trying to fix both these boards ,i did everything possible checked every component , as a last resort i removed the IC from a matrix and put it on the Xecuter coolrunner and everything is working perfect i did it for both the boards and both are working PERFECT !! i even put the TX coolrunner chip on the matrix mobo ,but i have not tested that yet but im sure the chips are bad . now i need 2 xlinx chips for my matrix boards :). But atleast I have 2 fully working Coolrunners too bad i had to sacrifice my matrix chips to save the TX coolrunners

here is a pic i put just in case if anyone is in the same siituation like me and does'nt mind killing a matrix to save a TX coolrunner :).

looks legit to me ....

I will add I've gone through over 50 CRs now and not a single issue.

For you to have two faulty - very unlikely.

As I said, if the IC is getting hot then more than likely the programmer cable has been plugged in back to front (causing 3.3v to be fed to the data lines).

then you have plugged the coolrunner programming cable in the wrong way round. it's the one surefire way to destroy the coolrunner chip.
