power on when you get red lights hold the sync button and then press eject, you need to press eject 4 times, and each press represents 0,1,2 or 3. 4 lights= 0, 1 light=1, 2=2, 3=3

0012 is cpu overheating, you can cut the thermal protection trace but this is a last resort as if the system IS overheating you may fry it.
However it could be the problem. open your case, make sure the heat sink is getting hot, check contact between heatsink and cpu, x-clamp if not already done or better hybrid x-clamp as this helps draw heat from under the motherboard into the chassis.

These are your options, really:
http://xbox-experts.com/errorcode/E05/0011/

Naturally it overheats, overheats when you play a game. Games require more juice, and makes the chips hotter. Makes perfect sense. This shouldn't happen though, something is not as it should be.

Keep in mind, that a faulty temp sensor is rare and should only be cut as last resort. It wont solve the actual problem, if it actually is overheating, which probably is the case.

If it already has an x-clamp fix applied, make sure the heatsink has good contact to the chip and that there is not too much nor too less paste.

Follow the directions in the link i gave you.

I sincerely hope so. Go withall the cooling mods you can first and if the problem persists then you may have to cut the thermal trace..... but as a last resort.

Look for hybrid xclamp kit, you can get them on ebay from america, about £20 delivered with opening tools, drive shims to stop discs getting scratched, eject motor belt for sticky drives, most comprehensive kit i've seen, But it is the x-clamp design that really is fantastic.
check out this link: http://xbox-experts.co.uk/tutorial/team-hybrids-ultimate-xclamp-fix-released/

Glad to help

Ive not seen the hybrid x clamp before i think what you get with it is good and from what ive read it would seem better for me reducing the overall heat, i think the only thing that puts me off is you have to sand down a point and drill holes. Could i maybye use the screws from the tx kit? i have some around i think.

I would use it as a kit, i believe the screws are 12mm long in the hybrid kit instead of 10mm in most other x clamp kits.
They need to be longer as you are going through the chassis. I use a dremel and carefully sand down the high points, stacking 3 washers to check the level is correct.
Drilling the holes is easy, just dont put much pressure on the chassis as it could bend, and use a new drill bit. Then if you use a larger drill bit and dill the opposite way to remove any swarf (dont drill all the way just touch enough to remove rough edges.
From there it is straight forward, you will be fine.
It really is a good kit.

can't get that link working.
Reballing is difficult, i have IR reflow bench for reflowing, lifting and reballing etc, but i have not reballed anything....yet.
Try the TX kit, but the heat tranfer fromthe hybrid kit is unmatched, i read some tests and it was showing temps of 10 degrees C less around the cpu and gpu compared to other kits.
I am off to bed now, good luck!
