Ok..

This is what i've been up too.

I bricked My Samsung ms28 (didnt backup orig.bin properly)

I bought a RRoD/bricked DVD drive xbox, fixed the RRoD, and I also have the drive key for this xbox.

I also have a new ms25 with factory firmware on it.

Ok.. this is what I want to do..

I want to use the Hitachi firmware on either samsung drive. I'm slightly afriad to use the ms25 since it's untouched, i'd rather put the bios on the ms28, and go from there.

And, Finally this is what I tried (with poor results)

I took the ms28 and the non-RRoD xbox, the hitachi bios, and 360 firmware and spoofed the hitachi bios to ms28, flashed it, worked like a chram durning flashing. Took the xbox back home, switched the ms28 to the X-RRoD Xbox, and ended up with no video, and it did have video once I solved the RRoD.

What, I need help with..

As you can see, I dont think 360 firmware toolbox spoofing the way "I" thought it would work, so how exactly should I go about this, I know it's possible, do I need a original ms28 bios to copy the hitachi key too, and then flash, or am I clearly overlooking something ?

Re: 2 Xbox 360's, 3 Xbox DVD Drives, And 1 DVD Drive Ke

Ok this is what im trying later today..

I have downloaded the newest samtool..

I have put my Original.bin in the same folder, I also copied the ixtreme 1.2 Rev2. there.

These are my results (modified of course)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SamTool v0.5 by Caster420 & Klutsh
--------------------------------------------[360mods.net]-[x-projects.org]--

Copying Key...

Writing Original.bin key to key9-20.txt.

Checking Keys...
Key from Original.bin: 598973F0E041F3blahblah Version: hitachi v47
Key from ixtrem12.bin: 598973F0E041Fblahblah Version: ms28

*** WARNING ***
Drive versions do not match!!!
Would you like to copy the Original.bin version to ixtrem12.bin? (Y/N):n

*** SUCCESS ***
Drive Key Copied.

Now unplug the SATA cable and power-cycle the PC & DVD drive
On reboot run: FlashDrive

Ok, after that I load the ixtreme.bin file into 360 FWTB, and it says CLEARLY..

Samsung-TSH943A-ms28 - [iXTREME1.2Rev2]
for the bios version.

I think im getting close, i'll have to wait to try this, but this is different from what I tried in the previous post because this says it is authentic as far as the Toolbox is concerned, before it clearly stated the hitachi bios was spoofed, this time there are no indications of this key ever belonging to a hitachi drive, if anyone knows something I should do at this point, Please advise, I have about 14 hrs before I can test this..

Re: 2 Xbox 360's, 3 Xbox DVD Drives, And 1 DVD Drive Ke

Since im not getting very many replies, it makes me read more outside of my own thread.

Im reading samtool .7i will do much of this work alone w/o my intervention since I have the drive key.

both samtool .7i and .5 do the exact same thing as far as copying drive keys, only thing im concerned about is.. do I make the versions match THEN spoof, or deny the versions and spoof afterwards..

IE..
Drive is a Hitachi, you load samsung bios info, inject the key in it, flash

or

Drive is Hitachi, you take that info, spoof it into ms28 and load <---- this wont work

so again, im leaning slightly towards my 1st method, modified, use ixtreme firmware, with the hitachi key, only thing is manually patching AFTER using samtool to create the hacked firmware so..

The drive IS a samsung WITH samsung firmware,
but the xbox THINKS its an hitachi with up to date hitachi firmware

am I in the right direction ?
