Well, I have two xbox360s, I need a little info and if they're worth putting money into them or just sell them for parts?

First xbox360 Has HDMI output. I am using a 203W power brick as it's all i got.

Manufacturer date 08-22-2008 14.2VA (believe it's a Opus/Falcon) Powers on for about 30-45 seconds then gives 3 red rings then secondary error code is E10/0022

Second Xbox360 no HDMI

Manufacturer date 01-13-2010 16.5VA (believe it Zephyr has the GPU cooler going over some caps) Error code 0001.
Now some say it's the mosfets is there a for sure way to tell? if so are they easy to replace / where could i buy some? I do not see any damaged caps. that look buldged or have resin by them

Basically im wondering if it's worth putting money into theses two and selling them. or should i just sell them as part xbox's for like 35-40 bucks? (i think thats what they go for?)

I don't play Xbox's don't like them I happen to run into a few of them threw friends/family/ebay and decided i would try to fix them up as a hobby. i'm considering spending 300 or so for a correct rework/reball station but i can't seem to bring my self to it

I have decided buying cheap xboxes on ebay isn't worth it!

although 2 i bought on ebay only needed new thermal paste/cleaning. but still

well if you decide on do it yourself then/you can use them boards as test boards once you get a rework station and required items to reball/reflow goodluck welcome to the forum

Thanks! I wouldn't mind doing that,(been looking on B/S/T here for used stations) but right now just weighing options, I might just end up selling them. and let others get use out of them

both of them need new GPU's most likely. If they are virgin boards, they may be worth fixing. As stated previously however, if you don't have a station already and have no experience in replacing BGA's then just use them as scrap/test boards.

What gives you the idea it's a GPU problem? from what i've read it's most likely mosfet for the Opus/Falcon

and the e10 error i think will work if i just reball GPU. I can see where this might need a new one

Virgin boards? as in never had work done? correct. nothing has been replaced on them

im definitely considering just keep them for practice/test boards.

I'm just curious if i buy the station and what not will i make the money back. is it worth the 400 bucks

Not sure what you want to hear? You have 2 non working xbox 360's. You don't play or like xbox 360. You want to fix them with out making an investment in equiptment? Or your willing to and want to start repairing them to make some money correct? What do you hope to make off 2 consoles? Your going to buy more broken ones? Offer service for repair in your area or online? This stage of the game I don't feel (this is only my opionion) it's time to start a repair business but it is your money do as you wish. Most people don't rush out to buy refurbed systems from people without a reputation already for quality work. If you were looking for 2 cents thats mine. :)

It's worth mentioning that the equipment you buy can be used to repair other electronics as well. Desktops, laptops, netbooks, phones, tablets, other video game consoles, etc.

understandable, I enjoy doing this sort of work, right now I have a pretty good paintball repair business, pretty popular, makes decent but i still have free time,
I just got my first iphone for free cracked screen going to see about doing some screen replacments as well. . so im thinkimg i'm going to do some xbox's as well. now from what i can tell reballing, repairs could be worth it, (got to start somewhere to get the name out there) maybe do a few low priced ones for some feedback.

I have repaired a few consoles with said errors with a new GPU. Tried reflow->reball-> replace. Especially seeing as they are non HDMI and most likely do not have the HANA. I believe the Opus does however. Anyhow as stated previously you can use a BGA machine for ANYTHING BGA related. It could even help you with your iPhone glass replacement. Spend some time researching which machine to purchase. As the adage goes "you get what you pay for". Good luck!

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, eh!
Normally if I'm uncertain a console is worth fixing I'll simply perform a "reflow" (not really haha) by letting the console overheat with the fan unplugged. It may not work if the GPU isn't receiving power as of course it won't heat up. It's a bad fix but if you're lucky and the console starts up after that then it's worth actually fixing up (with a reflow/reball, thermal paste, etc).
