its an ms25. It looked like the dvd rom board was good enough to get the org.bin off of it (not a scratch, bent a little), no go. Id be willing to buy another ms25 but im not sure if someone wrecked the org firmware on the chip before they took a hammer after it. I would hate to buy another drive if the contents on the chip are bricked/damaged. How can I get the marriage key off the MOBO. Somewhere I read somthing about getting a key emailed to me.... from microsoft???

Thanks

LMAO, get the key emailed from microsoft. I wish it was that simple. The key must be extracted from the dvd-rom firmware - there is no current way to get it off of the motherboard.

The system is currently useless unless you can get the firmware off the dvd-rom.

On what chip is the firmware located? Is it possible to put this chip on a ms28? A ms25 should be able to be flashed seperate from the rest of the rom like a ms28?

just to make sure this is not a problem with what Im doing.

"I followed directions up to turn on 360 and computer then plug in sata @ command prompt type SAMREAD 1234567 12345 ( My serial ) then Enter.....( The whole time 360 is saying "open tray", "tray open" or "opening" depending on my options ,as the rom is in pieces ( I dont know if this is tieing up the drive???))I get a error message that org.bin was not found.... So, Ive done this before, I have all the right hardware. The drive is gone, then?

Thanks

Dont laugh to much, or I wont tell you what MS said....

UPDATE!!
I hooked up my working ms28 drive and tried a samread, and the same problem "Drive not found". Thats funny because the ViaRaid I bought worked before...... It starts and scans for disks right before the command prompt AHHHHH

UPDATE! UPDATE!! I Snatched the key!!!!!! 79 for a new drive, 20 for the xbox itself, 4 hour headache.... 8)

Hey you people, thinking about not flashing your firmware, think again!!
At least do a samread to get your original firmware key!!!
