ANSWERED 20gb HDD swapped to 500 Q

I Rgh 2 consoles. One I did everything on the original 20gb Hdd. everything seems great but no room .
The second one I replaced the drive with a 500gb I had from a old laptop. I ran into problems of files not transferring properly and Fsd taking long to load.
Am I better off with the 20 and using a usb?

Sorry Im a noob to this and im looking for the best way to do this. Im giving one to my 9yo nephew.

personally i use a 320gb internal for fsd/dl/xexmenu and profile/gamesaves only

external 1tb usb for games/emulators/homebrew
