Hi Guys -

I'm brand new to this forum and I would appreciate some help. I bought a second hand Xbox 360 (phat, white model) from someone on Craigslist. I know that this wasn't the best option, but it was a lot cheaper than buying a Xbox 360 slim. Anyway, I bought it, and came home. Turned it on and the unit is stuck in an endless update fail loop right when you start it. I don't get any options to cancel the update.

The unit has been taken apart before. It is a Zephyr motherboard (MFG date 08-18-2007) with a Lite-On drive (MFG date May 2008, HW Version A0A1, FW version 74850C).

The error message that I get is as follows: 22fb-351f-b800-0402-c000-0001

I have tried to do the following, but it didn't help to resolve the issue:
- remove the HDD and storage devices
- tried holding down the sync button while I start up the console. That did not appear to clear out the the failed update.

From searching the web, I gather that this has something to do with changing the DVD drive FW back to stock, or updating the FW so that it will work with this particular software update. Is that correct? I bought a VIA 6421 card and it should be here in the next day or two.

I'm just looking to get the unit working as stock, I'm not interested in getting the unit to play copied games.
What else can I do to try and get to the dashboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your console failed when tryin to install the 13599 update. So you need to download that update and put it on a usb stick and apply the update

the first number in the error is what kernel you was on

22fb (hex) = 8955 (dec)

second numer in error code is what it tried to update to

351f (hex) = 13599 (dec)

OK. Thanks for the replies guys. So... I guess this is where I need to wait for the VIA card to arrive in the mail, right?

I'm assuming I need to return my drive to the stock firmware that is listed on the drive label? (74850C)?

Where can I find the firmware pack for Jungle Flasher 0.1.96.Beta(323)? I haven't been able to locate a valid download link yet.

Thanks!

Can you please elaborate? I'm brand new to this, so I apologize for the questions in advance.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm trying to do this without purchasing a bunch of specialized hardware. I realize that the kits do make life easier, BUT, I think this will be used only once so the cost-benefit gain is minimal.

I'm looking at the thread that jligg is pointing to (http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61803). I have a few observations and questions. I would appreciate it if someone can help me answer each one:

1) In this case, the CK3 PRO looks like an independent power supply for the Lite-ON DG-16D2S drive, correct?
2) The power cable looks like it is modified with a switch (and from what I gather, this is switching the +3.3V rail on Pin 6).
3) And the probe appears to be nothing more than a pogo pin that connects to Pin 5 of the power cable
4) I'm assuming the X360USB Pro is the equivalent to using the VIA 6421 PCI card
5) The diagram doesn't show a serial connection to the CK3 PRO. I read somewhere that the older drives (pre August 2009 Liteon 83850C FW) does NOT require serial to extract the key. My drive is a 74850C. So I don't need the serial connection. Is this correct?

Again, I thank this community for helping me out.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you are saying that I should get another drive for the xbox 360, hook it up to my console and allow the update process to finish? Hmm. What about the DVD drive key? Don't they have to match? Wouldn't this result in a console that only plays DVDs because the key doesn't match?

If you have a Spoofed Drive the DVD key matches the info on the Key Vault but when the Update Process starts it tries to update the DVD Drive Model that the Key Vaults says it has. For Exp. if you have a Benq and it was suppose to be a Liteon the unlock method its different so the update fails right away. If you can insert the DVD Drive that it should have it will continue the process until it finish updating but once it finish the keys wont match so you will get Open Tray. Anyway you need yo update the Drive after, to the post 13599 LT 3.0 firmware

if the drive is a benq just hook up another benq , if its a liteon just use another liteon etc

OK. Well, that's my current issue - I don't have another drive with stock firmware laying around. :frown:
The VIA card should arrive on Tuesday. I've prepped the power cable and also made a probe with an extra pogo pin laying around. I'll update you guys after I try it.

Thanks!

Hopefully you dont have a spoofed drive..your chances are good..any 07 zephyr ive had always had the 74850c drive

Surprise! I got the VIA card in the mail today. I hooked up the xbox drive and got JungleFlasher 0.1.96 Beta running. I was expecting the DVDKey 32 tab to populate with the Lite-ON drive information. Instead, I get the following:

Vendor: SATA
Name: DVD-ROM
F/W Rev: 6243
Reserved: 0C
DVD Key: Not Found

:mad2: I stopped in my tracks and did some searching. This appears to be a BENQ drive. Correct? This drive appears to be spoofed! What do I do now?

Thanks!
