Hi Guys -
I'm brand new to this forum and I would appreciate some help. I bought a second hand Xbox 360 (phat, white model) from someone on Craigslist. I know that this wasn't the best option, but it was a lot cheaper than buying a Xbox 360 slim. Anyway, I bought it, and came home. Turned it on and the unit is stuck in an endless update fail loop right when you start it. I don't get any options to cancel the update.
The unit has been taken apart before. It is a Zephyr motherboard (MFG date 08-18-2007) with a Lite-On drive (MFG date May 2008, HW Version A0A1, FW version 74850C).
The error message that I get is as follows: 22fb-351f-b800-0402-c000-0001
I have tried to do the following, but it didn't help to resolve the issue:
- remove the HDD and storage devices
- tried holding down the sync button while I start up the console. That did not appear to clear out the the failed update.
From searching the web, I gather that this has something to do with changing the DVD drive FW back to stock, or updating the FW so that it will work with this particular software update. Is that correct? I bought a VIA 6421 card and it should be here in the next day or two.
I'm just looking to get the unit working as stock, I'm not interested in getting the unit to play copied games.
What else can I do to try and get to the dashboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
