256K backup boot: Blank screen

Hi,

I installed X3 on my 1.6 Xbox using the Rebuild PCB.

Everything looks fine except one thing:
I can boot to FlashBios 3.01 as expected.
I can also boot to the original MS Dash (by holding the power button)

The problem is that I get a blank screen when booting from the 256K backup (by holding both the eject and power button).
At this point, the "switch panel" is purple as expected...

Any idea ?

If this is a soldering issue, any idea which one I should look at?

PS: I would prefer to solve this problem prior to flash the BIOS

im not 100 percent sure on this but... i "think" i heard something about certain flashbios versions not working on the newest 1.6(b) xbox's... if this is the case that would explain why the flashbios 3.01 works and the other one dont cause it might possibly be a older version... but like i said, i am not sure.

personally i think your mod chip is working fine. but just in case im wrong u might want to get more advice.

you could have flashbios 3.0.3 on the backup rom. It doesn't work with the 1.6 xbox. If you don't want to flash over your flashbios you can flash an X3 bios to bank 5678 by selecting off, on, off, off on your front switch

Ya that version of FlashBios is non-compatiable, you could just send the chip back to your supplier and tell them to reflash it and what version of Xbox you have.

well i just looked in the official readme for the downloaded flashbios v3.0.3 and it says this...

Tested working on v1.0 v1.1 v1.2 v1.3 v1.4 v1.5 v1.6 v1.6b

Some users reported sometimes slow boot on v1.6 but perfect on all others inc v1.6b

For v1.6b detection RAM is usually Hynix and v1.6 RAM is usually Samsung

so that means u must have a older version of flashbios on it like v3.0.1 or older i think... as to why it wont work... cause from what it says above... the v3.0.3 WORKS on all xbox's.

I had one that I re-flashed for someone where the backup wouldnt come up - it was corrupt/not flashed on the Backup 256kb. Now this was on a ver 1.0, so anything on there should work.

But this is what I did (and you can too) -

You mentioned you got the other bank to show the flash bios yes ? so you've updated with the latest BIOS ??? If so, just flash the backup 256kb from within the X3 menu. Use the 3.0.3 file and re-do it - this should cure it and safeguard/enable the backup BIOS feature.
