This is my second slim demon in a row that is not working.

---------- Post added at 23:34 ---------- Previous post was at 23:29 ----------

I guess I should note that this is a Trinity 4Gb console. Retail dash is still on 14719. Console works fine after removing the demon.

The last demon did the same stuff. It was also on a different Slim trinity mobo. Again when I uninstall the demon the console works fine.

At this point I tried to reinstall this same demon. First I wrote the RGH image to the demon Via the micro USB. I also wrote the retail to the console Via NandX. Now with the console wont turn on at all. I get the dings but no activity. Power brick stays orange.

Also now when I hook the demon up to the computer Jrunner give an errors saying "manufacturer for code FF not found"

hey,

i used your videos as a guide,great vids,anyway,
i also has "manufacturer for code FF not found" and "manufacturer for code AF not found" because i had a tiny bridge on the demon nand qsb points, but your soldering is better than mine, perhaps try soldering these points directly to the xbox nand using the demon pads, like corona?

WE and WP both look wrong.

The FIRST thing you should do when you get Manufacturer code issues is to test continuity between the test points on the DemoN and the NAND on the console. If they pass, you next test continuity between adjacent solder points (D0 to D1, D1 to D2 etc - all of them).

These are standard troubleshooting steps.

There could be alot of things that can be causeing your problems.

But seeming your having this problem with 2 Demons on the one machine I'd sway toward the Xbox being the problem.

Bad blocks need to be handled correctly or it won't work.
1) Read Retail from Xbox nand, if its got BBs then you need to un-remap them.
2) Write this new image to the demon, then read it back, then check for bad blocks again.
3) Manage the bad blocks if any, then create RGH image and flash to the Demon.

I also presume you have at least tried most if not all of the following already:-
A different cable from Demon to Mini USB board.
A different ground point. For the Demon and/or the Mini USB board.
Swapping the cable around.
Bending the contacts slightly to make a tighter fit in the connector.
A wire install on the demon.
A different PC/Laptop.
Make sure you don't run Demon toolbox and Jrunner together.
Use a microscope to view your points to make sure you have no shorting/ or that you have good contact.
Make sure your LDV value is correct on Retail.
Manually handle Bad blocks.
Check for continuity to the nand legs.
Tried a different Mini USB cable.
Flashed the correct Timing file on the coolrunner.

Its not one console its two consoles. Its not one demon its two demons. I only started getting the manufacture code error after reinstalling the demon for the second time. The video shows what it was doing on the first install.

I'll check the continuity again when I get home.

Well despite what it looks like I check the continuity between the "WE" and the "WP" to the alternate points on the nand chip and they check out just fine. Must be the camera angle and lighting thats making it look off. Although I will say I used to much solder on "WP"

However I check the "D" rail and found I'm not getting a connection on "D5" and there seems to be a jump between D6 and D7.

I did all these test on the first install and they were all fine. That was at the time of shooting the video. But the jump and lack of connection likely explains the new error with the "manufacturer for code FF not found"

Ow and thanks for taking the time to look at it for me Martin.

Okay so I fixed the D5 that was getting a good connection. I also fixed the unseeable bridge between D6-D7. I tested those out and everything now looks good there. The console will now boot on the retail nand on the Console without a problem. But its not booting on the RGH nand on the Demon. It does turn on and the coolrunner flashes but no boot up.

I hooked the console back into my computer and tried to write again to the Demon and again Jrunner locks up and closes down like in the video. Same issue as before when writing to either the demon or the 360. But at least the Manufacture error is gone.

I found that my tip of my iron has a little split in it. I was noticing on this install and the last that I seemed to have to turn the heat up to get the solder flowing. So I used my cheap iron and redid all the solder points. Tested everything for continuity and it all checks out.

Martin if you weren't in Scotland I would send you this thing just so you can experience it first hand.

Okay so I'm on my second demon install on one console. This is a new demon that just came in.

Demon passes pre test.

In jrunner it wont let me switch to the xbox nand until I wrote something to the demon. I used the retail nand. I tested the console and the retail boots on both nands

Now it lets me switch to Xbox nand and again Jrunner fails every time I try to write/read either nand. Same issue as the video.

I did however notice that if I unplug the Xbox power and switch the demon to PC I can read/write no problem on both the demon and the console.

(Ow and the reboot of the PC didn't help)

Has he even ruled out anything yet? He just seems to say the demon isn't working all the time.

What about ruling out his USB cable, the slim powerbrick, the PC/laptop.

Even reinstalling the drivers like BL4K3Y says.

Have you checked you're definitely getting 5V on standby on the 360 board (underside red wire)?
Yes I'm getting 5V

Test reading/writing to both NANDs with the DemoN Toolbox.

I would also suggest re-installing the drivers to rule that out as a potential issue.
I uninstalled the demon drivers and reinstalled. Jrunner still crashes when I try to write to either nand with the demon on XB and the power brick pluged in.

However I do have the console working fine now. I still cant read/write with the demon on XB.

My solution. Leave the demon on PC. Console boots and runs fine on both nands. When I have to read/write I just dont have to plug in the Power brick. I actually like this better anyway LoL.

Still I'd like to figure out what the deal is with the Jrunner crashing. Demon tool box also crashes the same way.

I fixed this issue  I swapped out coolrunners from another console when I was testing things. This one was set with 1-2 bridged. I changed it to 2-3 and it boots instant.
