is there any room for the thought of even installing a second hard drive inside a 360 slime?

my initial thought was to do an RGH with the DemoN installed....now if i want to use NAND 1 as stock for XBL and other legit things of the sort then i CAN NOT just install any size HDD into the normal 360 enclosure as the legit NAND would limit the size of the HDD due to needing the HDD.bin (i think thats what its called) installed and the max capacity for this is 320GB. the RGH nand would also only see 320GB due to this so i gain no additional HDD space on the RGH NAND.

So my other thought was to just run an external USB HDD for the RGH NAND and store the RGH games, XBLA, DLC, ect. on the external USB HDD.....but this adds another external attachment to my 360s and my ideal mod would have every thing tucked away and have nothing externally showing at all (not even the DemoN button) as i like to keep things as normal and uniform looking as possible.

This leads me to something i have thought about for about a day or so now.......internally mounting an external USB HDD by cutting off the USB end of the self powered 2.5" external HDD and directly soldering the USB wires to either the under side or actually inside a USB port for a permanent USB HDD connection and some how fitting it inside the 360 s some how, i have watched a couple videos on taking apart the 360 s and looked at a few internal images but i can not see a place where i could possibly fit an internally mounted USB HDD either with or with out the enclosure as a lot of external 2.5" USB HDD's come with a sata to USB adapter these days.

all of these thoughts brings me to the drawing board (you guys and this post) on where or how i might be able to either mount the external HDD inside the 360 or circumvent this 320GB HDD size limit for the legit NAND to accommodate my RGH NAND for a larger or extra HDD storage and still keep a nice uniform and stock appearance for my 360 s.

I think this is what you need, allows you to connect a large hard disk to the internal memory port which on a 250gb console would not be seen by the stock nand but would by the rgh nand

kool thanks it looks as tho this will solve where to tap in to add the extra HDD space im seeking now....how about physically being able to internally mount a 2.5" HDD? is there room or a way to squeeze it in there? :)

any one else have any other ideas or things they did to get around this situation?

I think he's looking for something like this:http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85491

Here is an example of one I did (cut and pasted my post from that thread):
You mod is actually my v2 of dual HDD setups. The first one I made an adapter that would allow me to switch between the internal and a 2TB external HDD connected by a custom e-sata port which registers as an internal as well.

The problem with this was I could only have one or the other HDD. The benefits to v1 over v2 is HDD size (until they make a 2TB 2.5" HDD), and sata/e-sata is faster than USB 2.0 (the new mod is cannot provide USB 3.0 speed). The main draw of this (besides form factor) is that you can transfer info between dual internal HDD's without extra hardware (USB device or PC).

For v2 I used a WD "My Passport" because it has USB 2.0/3.0 built directly onto the HDD.

I also connected it to a 3-position on/on/on dpdt for use with a dual NAND. I used power from the internal HDD giving me the option of which one or both HDD get power.

In order to get it to fit I modified the HDD "tray". I used a rubber band and rubber feet from the HDD tray to hold everything in place

It fit together pretty well and can confirm a 1TB HDD works.

Note: The 500GB USB 2.0 HDD showing the USB port is not the 1TB USB 3.0 HDD that is installed verifying up to 1TB (930GB free) HDDs work.

that is friggin nuts hundshammer.....reminds me of the case xtender in the xbox 1 days LOL how ever seeing as how i am dealing with my LTD Gears 3 360 s i think mounting an HDD under the DVD-ROM like mentioned by UTMAD would be ideal (the LTD thing is a lot of reason why my form factor matters to me in this scenario) i wish i had a second 360 s to play with some of these other options how ever

There is plenty of room under the dvd drive and to the side of it so easy
even for a 2.5" 1TB which is obviously (last time i checked any how) thicker than the standard 2.5" sata HDD's?

The first 3 pics are from a separate external e-sata HDD mod. If you look at the 3rd to last pic, it shows 2 HDD installed internally with the bat switch to select between the HDD's. You could replace the bat switch with a relay switch, so it will auto select the HDD depending on the NAND selected. This will also keep it all internal. I do not know if the HDD will fit under the DVD drive without shorting anything. That's why I have the 2 HDD's in the HDD bay of that 360.

If one were to go about putting in a relay, would you need to add transistors or resistors. Thinking about internalizing to hdd's in a phat. Also, what would you have the relay to? I have a Demon installed, what pin on a demon would you link the relay to to switch the drives?
