JTAG 2nd JTAG Zypher - Wont Boot Xellous

Could use a little help here.

This is my second Zypher JTAG I have done. The first one I did was successful with the alternative AUD_CLAMP and DVD TRAY JTAG points. Other then some hardware issues on the motherboard which was causing some freezing issues during game play which a reflow fixed it, the JTAG went well.

I got a second Zypher that was jtaggable, I confirmed the CB of 4558 with stock dash 7371 and I have done exactly the same setup I did on the first one on this one however no matter what I do it will not boot into Xellous.

On the first Zypher it would almost always go to Xellous until I disabled the DVD in JTAG Tool however this second one has yet to get into Xellous once. I have re-done all my wiring with new diodes, tried component/composite, etc.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to note that I tried to load XEX Menu from a DVD disc from the regular dashboard and it would not load, is this normal with the stock dash?

What error are you getting?

XeXMenu and alike are modified and therefore unsigned. If a stock console could run them....well, you know what I'm going to say...

I am not getting any error, xellous just wont show up, I really don't get it. I have tried booting from the wired controlled button in the rear USB, holding eject with DVD open, holding eject with dvd closed, booting normally, etc, and it just won't go into xellous.

What am I doing wrong?

Which version of Jtag tool are you using and are you using the HDMI or standard A/V connection? Have you tried xell instead?

Funny you mention that, I was just reading over the forums a little and decided to try Xell instead and wouldnt you know it worked.

I re-flashed stock, then Xellous, didn't work, then flashed Xell and it worked, so that's good. Going to re-flash stock now and just use Xell on this one and go from there, guess ill have to play with it for awhile.

Ill post back my results.

Also, is this a common issue where Xellous wont work but Xell will? What's the major difference between the two?

Main differences is that xellous gives your console an IP address and it's possible to transfer NAND and other files via network. It also gives you the consoles CPU key & DVD key and generates a fuset.txt file with them. It can also dump/extract your decrypted KV.

Nope, never had the issue myself. I'm assuming you're using JTAG Tool 2.76? Zephyrs can be tempermental with v3 and up.

I flashed the first one with 3.00 and upgrading to 3.13 to add 13146 and that unit is working good. I will try with 2.xx and see if Xellous will work but right now I am flashing my freeboot bin just to make sure its working.

Will post back my results. Damn Zyphers, seems they are just a PITA for JTAG and I got a bunch of them!
