According to this thread at xbox-scene.com there might be a little bit more than the marriage thesis.

I am total blank on how mod chips work and their installation procedure (I am waiting for the X3+Xapt3r). If the LPC scanning thingy described there was true, would the Pro switch prevent it?

Note, I am not asking if that thesis is plausible. That thread is there for that purpose. I am asking that IF it turned out to be true, would the Pro switch prevent MS from detecting deactivated X3 modchips?

no the pro switch would not keep your LPC from being scanned. only physical removal of the chip from the LPC would stop it, IF ms was scanning LPCs.

Then, what is the exact purpose of the proswitch (besides making it easier to select the booting BIOS). What does the left-most switch does? How is it different, mechanically, to just long/short-pressing the standard "on" button of the XBox to activate/deactivate the chip? Or is it that its purpose has nothing to do with activating/deactivating the chip? ^_^

Far from here!
That switch to the left enables/disables flashing to the bios. Has nothing to do with booting the xbox.

Norman, OK
The pro switch is simply a nicer version of the original switch. It does nothing more than the original switch at all, just has nice colored buttons and all that instead of dip switches ;)
