i just flashed my drive like a month ago and my drive wouldn't work right laying down. i had to keep opening and closing the tray untill it finally reads so i stood up the console and it worked everytime no problems. then i rented C&C3 played the original and after a while it started to freeze 5 seconds into playing so i restart and get 3rlod. so i waited half hour powered the unit and it played again untill i get to the actuall gameplay and it freezes 5 sec in then 3rlod. so i decided to play a movie and it plays no problem. I figure its not a overheating problem or drive problem cuz it played a movie for about 2 hrs. If its not overheating could the xclamps be that sh*tty that it still warped the board? i read about replacing them but i got no thermal paste just gonna have to wait till i order it. also could standing it up have caused the clamps to warp? I know i will prob end up with a $500 paperweight at some point but i'm just trying to provide some info for others.I've had this console for 1yr. Is microsoft doing anything to correct this problem? has anyone who recently bought one have different kind of clamps? This is why microsoft makes operating systems and not the PC's!

so if all these ppl are having problems because of the x-clamp and microsoft isn't fixing the flaw i know for damn sure that i'm not buying another one so it can do the same thing 6mths down the road. and for those who still have a warranty i strongly suggest getting it extended so you can bankrupt microsoft for the hundreds of 3rlod units they're gonna have to replace.

xclamp replacement/repair is the best way to fix it. M$ doesn't even repair their RMA units as well as you replacing the xclamp and thermal paste **Look for Lawdawgss tutorial, his method is reversable and allows you to work with only 8 screws, 32 washers and a screw driver and pliers. NO DRILLS OR MEASURING!!!!

Hundreds? If only that were true. lol

And there's nothing to "extend"...if your seal is intact then you're automatically covered against 3ROD for 3 years from the date of purchase. That goes for every 360 with a good seal.

The xclamp mod works great, it has a high success rate(90%)!!!! I will post a link to the page. I used this and a couple other mods the creator came up with. One simple 2 min. mod forces the air from the fans to pull air through the fins of the heat sink. I greatly reduced temps and performance of my box!! I recommend using all of this guys mods!!!!!

yes i replaced the xclamp using rbjtechs MKIII method. first i used three washers under the board tightened it down and automatically 3rlod. Then i saw that my washers were pretty thin and decided to add 2 more to each bolt. Tightened it up and no problems so far. this is a great method and only requires little drilling.
