I used extreme boot maker and made a floppy with custom mtkflash for my via card and prepared it for dos(used the tutorial by textbook) i have unplug all dvd drives and hard disks but when i use SAMREAD "serial" no drive detected pops up :( My bios doesn't have option for sata port(raid enable/disable or anything else).Could you please help me.

Re: 360 connected to via sata6421A card "No drive detec

Hi,

I have a very similar card and can flash ok.
Currently what port do you have your sata cable attached to?

- My card has 3 port first I attached to primary sata port.
- With Sata cable attached to port I created xtreme bootmaker files.
- ran the CD after samread xxxxxxx xxxxx I got
MKDIR failed for 'Backups'
MTKFLASH by Joseph........
Drive Scaned
1: IDE Sec Slave
2: XTREME Pri Master
Choose one drive:

Follow tut with regards to powering on and off Xbox,
read firmware, SamHack write firmware fine.
I found waiting 12 counts worked for me.

Hope this helps

I tried both sata ports(the external and the internal port) but i didn't have the sata cable connected.Do i need to heve the sata cable connected?only to card or both sides connected one to sata port and the other to 360?i don't know which port is my primary on the sata card.
could you give the link for the tutorial with regards to powering on and off Xbox because i can't find it.
thanks

Of course you have to have the drive hooked up to the card and the drive has to be powered on. You're trying to flash the drive, aren't you? It's going to say no drives detected if there's no drive .. kind of makes sense.

How was the data going to get there without the cable?

You need to connect one end of the SATA cable to a port on the card, and the other end into the back of the drive.

I suggest you do not try and flash your drive.

I feel a potential brick coming here

You guys didn't understand of course i had both xbox 360 and via card with a sata cable connected during flashing time. What i was asking is if i had to put sata cable connected to the port of the card during xtreme boot maker(detect ID/I-O) but anyway i have flashed my xbox 360 :D .The problem was that i didn't use primary port(via cart) for the connection and that is why 360's drive wasn't detected.

Thank you all very much for your great help

It's not that people did not understand it was that you did not explain yourself fully enough!
