Hi I'm new to this forum so hello everybody. Im a noob in the modding world, and quite frankly I have been reading and reading constantly the last couple of days trying to make sense of it all and I must say I am completely confused, I mean so many different things, and so many different ideas, and everybody uses words that are completely non beginner (even when they say it's for beginner) I mean I understand some but that's it LOL!!! Anyway I just have a question not necessarily pertaining to hacking persay, but close. Basically, I have an extra 360 laying around and what I want to do, since my hard drive in my laptop does not scan xbox 360 games to back them up, I'm wanting to know how I can take the hard drive out of my xbox 360, and use it as basically just an external drive, strictly to read xbox 360 games to back them up and create ISO files. I know I still have to mod my box but I will have to study a LOT more to figure that one out. I have looked for like an enclosure for the hard drive but can't find one, or don't really know what I'm looking for. I know I have a Hitachi hard drive, but in order to know exactly what enclosure to get do I need to just go ahead and take it out of the 360? And even if I do find and enclosure, does it come with the necessary hookups I need to plug into my USB like a standard external drive? Thank you all before hand for your help. I'm totally confused!!! lo

Welcome to the forum, and to the world of modding!

I'm a little confused on exactly what you want to do, but the 360 hard drive (hdd for short) is just a regular 2.5" laptop hdd. Any laptop hdd external usb enclosure will work to plug it into your laptop. I'm not sure if this what you're looking for, http://forums.360mods.net/showthread.php/33242-x360dock-Product-Review-by-jsinger47 , but this lets you play games off of an external hdd without too much modding. I don't think you can backup pre-ripped games off of your xbox hdd though, I've never heard of that before.

You can't create ISO-s from an installed game. But if you only want backup your e.g. save games you need an ordinary USB sata controller with needed cables. You can use x360usb pro if you have a cable for powering the drive (standard sata power cable)
