Re: xbox 360 mod problem

I think the orders wrong. You're not supposed to read the firmware and then choose your chipset, its the other way around. It goes like this I think:

1) Power comp and 360 at the same time with SATA unplugged in 360
2) At DOS, plug it in
3) Type SAMREAD 12345 6789 and your chipset shows up
4) Turn off 360 and select the chipset
5) Wait 10 seconds and power 360 back on and it should start reading

If you got to step 5 without 3-4 then I don't think you have a valid orig.bin.

Re: xbox 360 mod problem

right i tried again! when i run xread i get the following:
directory already exists please wait
no drive detected
1 files copied
error-file backups \1234567 12345(obviously this is my serial number)\org. bin does not exist
runtime error 103 at 0000:107A
does anybody have any ideas?

when you get to step 3, turn your xbox off, choose your chipset and wait 10 secs and then turn it back on...i think thats right.

yeah you think that's right, but sorry wrong again... to bad you can't use a Nforce chipset to do a Bad Flash.

with the current setup, you cannot flash the MS28, unless you do the VCC method which requires soldering

Re: xbox 360 mod problem

are you saying that even though i have a pci card with a via chipset i still cant bad flash because of my motherboard?

Re: xbox 360 mod problem

i get the feeling that when i boot from my usb the programs cannot see my xbox 360 through my pci card ? do i need to have more programs ready to run from my usb stick to enable my pci card before i try to read/flash anything?

Claggy,

Ignore that muppet jelle2503. It looks like he's read half of your first post and commented accordingly - incorrectly again.

The bad flash method will work with the PCI SATA card installed. It doesn't matter what the motherboard has. To be safe whilst doing the flash remove the SATA cables from the motherboard to the drives and make sure you use one of the internal SATA ports on the VIA PCI card.

Follow Textbooks instructions for the MS28 using the bad flash method in the above configuration and you will be fine.

Make sure when you use bootmaker that you tick the two required boxes for the bad flash method when preparing the usb drive.

I appreciate that there are loads of people on this forum trying to help but bad advice is much worse than no advice at all. After people are messing with £300.00 toys and it's risky enough to flash without the added risk of incorrect instructions.

Re: xbox 360 mod problem

success !! i have done 4 consoles and THEY ALL did not want to show up when you ask xread to read the drive.i find that the best way to get your via card to see the dvd drive is to have it connected to your pc before boot up,boot pc then xbox , when at the dos prompt screen run xread 1234567 12345(this will be your own unique serial number),when it says no drive detected type "mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin" .
your drive should now be detected. dont select it ,just type in xread 1234567 12345 (this will be your own unique serial number)and hey presto it will now see your drive.this has worked four times for me now and i hope it helps everyone else who might be having the same problem.i always connect to the internal sata connection on my via card which is nearest to the front of my pc.
