Not really, the mats that I dealt with blow cool air toward the bottom of the laptop, not pull it out - as for the slim its fan is on the top for both the CPU and GPU, meaning it would exhaust hot out the top (or side standing) and the laptop mat would bring cool against the bottom of it.

I could be wrong but thats how I am conceiving it as working. Either way, could be worth a shot with someone monitoring the temp to even try one if its available.

u read my post worng im saying the slims fan pull tha hot air out and the laptop mats push air in meaning if they were ontop of each other the hot air would just get pushed back into the slim

aha some of you guys are so out there when it comes to cooling theorys

its fairly simple,
excessive heat=electronics enemy, more airflow=less heat :p lol

putting a laptop cooler blasting on the outside of the case is so pointless its funny, i see people all the time with stuff like that that makes crap loads of noise so they think its working great, where in actual fact the xbox is hitting temps of 100+ degrees C

Ta Darko,

As mentioned in my previous post's it is never going to go away ( Heat that is ) Every electronic device creates heat its how it is manage that is the way forward.
12v-ing is ok but does create a tad more noise, I am however looking to know how to add a potentiometer to adjust speed as i wish any ideas?

I purchased my 360 slim and noticed immediately that it got way to hot inside. I noticed the fan barely spun, somewhere around 20 percent of it's capability. I did a search on resolving heat issues with it and decided to do the 12V Mod by cutting the blue fan wire. The case doesn't even get warm now, everything is cool. The fan runs alittle louder than i prefer, but it beats having a console that is subject to massive heat all the time. I see they sell a micro board on ebay for about $ 15.00 that adds 15 % more fan speed, but that is simply not enough.

Don't cut the blue wire. Just pull the tab back where the blue wire goes into the connector. Then pull the wire out of the connector. You never know you might want to change it back. I know my whisper fan was loud as hell when I did this.

You can buy this external cooler that looks and works really nice from gamestop.

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-intercooler-sts/90592

To even suggest one of those intercoolers you should be tarred and feathered , they have killed more 360's than they helped. they reduce the airflow when the 360 fan kicks in high gear and pull a ton of power from the usb port. Put one on a RGH slim and monitor the temps with and without it, You will see they are useless. WASTE of money .

I doubt it will trigger ms's swat team at all :0)
Its a built in function, all the blue and yellow cables do are scenes the cpu's temp and adjust the speed accordingly, with both wires cut the xbox "thinks" the fans and off so it ramps up the speed to 12v.
Of course i kept the cables stripped and electrical taped around tips for future use and to protect from shorts etc . . .
actually on the slim the fan gets a full 12V 100% of the time through the power cable, unlike the older phats (the phat 360 varied the voltage to control fan speed) the slim use a PWM fan. PWM fans control there own speed in a sense. The 360 tells the fan how fast to spin through PWM and the fan motor electronics govern the speed and send a signal back to the 360 telling how fast it is spinning. much more efficient system of fan speed regulation.

TX , you should produce a PWM controller for the 360s , it would also function in the 360e model. either one version that is either a fixed percentage ( set to drive the fan at 30-50% higher than what the 360 is asking) or one with maybe 2 ratios 30% or 50% set by a jumper. hell they make them for the PS3 as either a fixed setting or adjustable . would work great and be cheap to produce and hell I bet ya would sell a ton of them .
