Ummm yeah...... Use XP

Sorry, lol I'm not sure exactly what your asking. Firmware that will run in 64bit for a Hitachi?

I take it you mean is there a program to flash a Hitachi that works in Windows Vista x64 ? Don't have a Hitachi anymore and never used Toolbox etc so not sure if they work or not?

But if your having problems with getting your drive recognised in Windows Vista x64 it is more than likely a driver issue, or perhaps the default CDROM.SYS version that comes with Vista x64 is not compatible with your 360 drive. I was running Vista x86 (32Bit) on my current laptop & changed it to 64Bit a few weeks ago. But then the built in DVD RAM drive wouldnt show up in Windows at all because of a driver issue so I changed back. Vista x64 uses different 64Bit drivers so if you have XP available I would just use that and forget Vista for now for flashing. Or you could change to Vista x86.

Unless you specifically need the 64Bit edition for high end programs like professional music/video editing software etc, not only will you not benefit or require the 64Bit version, but it will probably just cause you more problems in the long run as there is not as much support or programs developed with 64bit in mind at present. If your on a Home PC with 2GB or less DDR2 RAM, 32Bit is probably more than enough.

Do you have dual OS on your Hard Drive? If it works in XP for you then why change? I know what I'd do.

Sorry about my wording. My question meant to state if there was a program that will run in 64-bit and flash my hitachi 59dj. After some reading i figured out that there is no such program. I flashed my drive with garyopa xtreme 1.3 FW. Seemed that everything went fine, but my 360 will not read backups, but will still read orignals. I tried reflashing but my computer will not boot properly with my 360 drive attached to it

Xtreme 1.3?

If you wanna use old firmware I take it your backups that you already have are not properly stealthed so wont play on a system flashed with iXtreme? Otherwise you might aswell flash with that surely?

Are you playing on Live? If you do, your leaving yourself at good risk of being banned using older firmware instead of iXtreme.

Do you not have XP also? Can't you just use that when flashing?

Almost forgot, try this to make it work in Vista:

Right click the program you wish to use to flash (try 360 Firmware Toolbox 4.0) and select "Properties". Then select the "Compatability" tab and check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Then select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list.

Next run the program as Administrator, ie: Right click the program and slect "Run as Administrator"?

It will probably ask you to confirm so Continue/Allow or whatever and hopefully the program will run fine.

I suddenly remembered I had to run Toolbox as Administrator to get it to work too, but you should also set it to compatibility mode for XP.

Let me know how you get on. :)
