78 drive

Help needed.
My friend has a hatachi 78 drive which has started to make a horrible noise when reading the disc. I have 2 questions
1. i have the origanal firmware but how do i flash it back
2. he is considering buying a new drive what will he need ie hatachi or samsung and which model plus how do i flash it .
Any help offered i would be most gratefull for

Flashing the driver back to its original firmware not going to help.

The problem is not at the firmware, but how the disc is spinning. I believe it has something to do with the disc tray (the disc doesn't sit all the way down when it spin so it rattle).

I had tried serveral different ways to fix this, rubberband, adding plastic, compressed air, WD-40 on q-tip rub on rails, none works, though I think it helps when the console is laying down.

So for now just turn the sound up real high, as far as I know it doesn't hurt the disc, just make it hot as hell.

Hold up, DO NOT use that 360 till your disk drive is fixed. From what I hear a noise like that will only get worse untill the drive is completely dead. I would try to find tutorials on how to fix your problem or find somebody who knows how to fix it.

Thats just my input, good luck.

but what i need t know is do i have to replace the old 78 drive with a 78 or can it be any and how do i flash a new drive to match my 360 i still have the orig bin file so i ve got the key
