Hello! Let me preface this by saying I have fished around on the forums and done some googling etc and done my very best to find a solution for trying to flash my firmware. That being said I'm a noob and don't want to F*** this up as I haven't flashed an xbox firmware since somewhere in the middle of 2006.
My current DVD Drive is a Lite-On 16D4S-9504. I would like to flash this to be on the current ixtreme ltplus 3.0.
From my searching and reading multiple tutorials and posted questions etc I have found some things that I am uncertain about. Things I may or may not be right about and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Running down the JF tutorial it says I must update my Dashboard before any flash is done; this is to avoid complications with updates on game discs and so that I may be able to play newer released games from what I understand.
That being said if I do the updates it will lock and turn into a 0272. At this point I will be required to unlock and then flash it?
From what I understand I need ck3 Pro to power the drive and x360usb pro for ease of flashing. To unlock the drive I will need an unlocked PCB, and because I can't solder worth a can of beans I could go with the solder less one where I just have to screw the wires in?
So the process would be (essentially as the JF tutorial is very straight forward for the details)
Update Dashboard
Plug drive in with the CK3 Pro and X360usb pro
Extract Key from drive (Use probe if I have a MXIC chip?)
Unplug everything
Replace PCB Board with unlocked PCB board
plug it back in
unlock and flash drive
I think this is correct but being new to all of this I don't want to screw anything up before jumping into it all or buy things I really don't need.
Any help or assurances that this is the correct method would be greatly appreciated.
