LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM 9504 'trick' via RGH2, possible to flash LT+ 3.0 without unlocking SPI?

Hello guys,

I'm not familiar with flashing Lite-On D4S drives, no matter they are MXIC or WINBOND. However I've read JF so I'm quite familiar with the general workarounds.

However I was having second thoughts on the whole thing and before doing a big mess I'd like to ask you a couple of questions: I have a Trinity board, dash 12625. It comes alongside with a 9504 drive, so it's ready for RGH2.

My question is: as long as the DVD drive should be unlocked because it hasn't been updated to 0272 via 13599 update, will it work if I do RGH to the board and afterwards I flash the DVD drive with LT+ 3.0 right away?

What I'm trying to do is to skip the update that will unlock the Lite-On for sure. This box will be RGH'd for sure, so taking all steps in this order, as it seems to me, should be fully functional, right?

You can do it, RGH image will not lock your drive.RGH your xbox, create a 16202 image, write it to nand then flash your drive with LT+v3.0.

I was thinking to do the same thing with a 12625 trinity, but my drive vas 0401:facepalm:

trying to understand what ur doing but its late all i can say is ive had a trinity without a drive for awhile but it does have a dual nand so retail working

now even though i dont use the retail side at all as i dont have a working drive so fails normal updates i have still updated the retail side by building stock images its on 16197 right now and hasnt had a drive since i got it a year ago so if the drive was unlocked in my draw it would still be today

Yeah done this a few times to save having to kamikaze a board.

He could build a retail 16202 and flash 272 fw to the drive if he wanted to revert to stock - would result in locking it of course but would see him through until a reflash was required.

He couldn't build retail 16202 without MS update. But he could build retail 14699 and then update to 16202

Guys, sorry for the bump but I'm about to flash this drive and I have one question to ask you beforehand: which is the correct fw I should apply? (board is already RGH'd, 16202 kernel booting up fine)

- LTPlus-9504.bin

or

- LTPlus-0272-v3.0.bin

Would the 1st be enough? JF doesn't display with LTPlus version is. I'm fearing the 2nd one would lock up the drive's SPI.

Really?? I thought flashing with any 0272 fw would lock the SPI automatically.

For the record: LTPlus-9504.bin does read XGD2 backups but it does not read XGD3 backups. Originals are all fine.

Edit: I tried and it worked perfectly! Now all games run perfectly. Thanks a lot socalbill!
