.....to everyone who posts and has the patience to answer everyones questions on this site. I ordered my X3 chip last week and recieved it this morning. I work in IT so I was fairly confident of installing it no problem. Took me about an hour to install the chip, but, being a newbie, I didnt realise that the bios would need flashing, then it took ages to find the X3_1957, but now I've just booted it up and its all singing and dancing and to be honest so am I.

So again thank you

Thanks for your advice. Can you tell me how to go from 1957 to 1959. Ive gone into bios settings and tried to flash from disk but it just sits there. I created the disk the same as 1957 but I've got the X3 screen now. It was easy with 1957 coz there wasnt a bios on the chip at that time.

Thanks in advance

Did you flash 1957 to banks 1 to 4? If so, just select banks 5-8 (Off, on, Off, Off) and then re-boot pressing power and eject button. That'll take you to the backup BIOS screen. Follow the instructions.

There is no reason to stay away from evox, but yes avalaunch is way better... I just figured to get someone started, that would be a good dash to begin with!!!

the problem is most n00bs never end up changing from evox, not that its a bad thing just many more nicer dash's out there

Nothing wrong with evox...it brings up a menu, you select your games...you play. I didnt mod my xbox to play with cool menu features.

Stay away from evox! Try avalaunch or THC but avalaunch is the best newbie dash IMO.

i wouldn't say that avalaunch is for noobs....

that dash is just fricken lazy. And thats what i am. Its easy so i use it. Being easy it makes me lazy. I use to screw around with all the other dashes. Then i remembered why i had an xbox. TO PLAY GAMES :) so I spend more time in games then looking at the dash.

I think evox is fine for a noob also. If you get ahold of slayers's installer disk. Thats pretty easy too.

The slayers disc has the Evo X and the avalaunch dash. I haven't tried to use the avalaunch yet from the slayers but when I was looking at the xbox HD from my PC, I saw that the folder had something there.

....I'm still no wiser, but thanks for all your opinions :D
with all that was said if you are still no wiser then just go out and grab one.... install it if you like it use it.. if you don't then go find another one... really it is all just a preference game... they all do basically the same thing... I like avalaunch cause it makes it easier to make back up games.. at least in my opion it is easier... just run and have fun... they will all work fine if you are just trying to play games

Any chips main goal is to let you run unsigned code. So no modchips will not let you do that. You have to put DVD2XBOX on you xbox. If you install Ava and the xbox is connect to the net then goto Settings=>Network=>Downloads and then you will see all of the programs will ever need including which includes XBMC, DVD2XBOX, ConfigMagic, and DVD-X2 DongleFree Player and Ava installs these for you.

What do I need for my new Xbox360? =)

Hi Guys,
First of all, sorry about my bad English, I'm not a native speaker (greetings from Germany ;) ).
I have some questions regarding "playing backups" on a Xbox360.

I wanted to buy the new Xbox360 Slim, which has really a good price tag.
And i wanted to let a shop doing the mod (Im not really a pro, still playing Wii games with an Wiikey II )

so here the questions:
1. Can a Xbox360 Slim be modded, or do i need an older model?
2. I saw their are Mod-Chips for the 360 too, do I need them or is their no difference to a Softmod (flash/Firmware) ? I would like the most easy way to play Backups!
3. Which Mod-Chip should I choose?
4. Is iXtreme the best flash/Firmware?

Thanks in advance!

No (not yet), only the 'older' consoles can be flashed.

2. I saw their are Mod-Chips for the 360 too, do I need them or is their no difference to a Softmod (flash/Firmware) ? I would like the most easy way to play Backups!
Mod chips are a no no now, they are detectable on Xbox Live and arguably more hassle to install, much easier to now to flash the console using software (e.g. Jungleflasher).

3. Which Mod-Chip should I choose?
None.

4. Is iXtreme the best flash/Firmware?
Yes iExtreme is the best firmware there is. Every one of them, excluding the Hitachi firmware is considered to be safe and undetectable on Xbox Live.
