A damage risk in modding?

I have the 2.6 with Xapt3r and a 1.4 Xbox, and no computing education at all, so I don't fully understand most of the technicalities around this.

Is it correct one can ruin a chip or the box itself, or both together, during flashing with CD?

Do I simply obey the flashbios tutorial to it's word, or does this process vary a little based upon the combination of chip and system version? Where is that explained if the latter is true?

if you get flashbios on chip flash by cd
you need the x2 5035 bios
x2 5035 for v1.0 to v1.5
x2 5035 v16 plus for v1.6 and v1.6b xbox

for the 2.6 you need two start from bank 2 then once flashbios start up change to bank 1 too flash it will flash bank 1 all the time this is so you have a working flashbios
