A few noob questions

Hey. Never done any firmware flash or modding, and you probably heard these questions a billion times before. Sorry


1. I have a old xbox with benq dvd driver (at least from what the dvd tray looks like). Is it true i need VIA or NForce SATA chipset on my PC to flash it?

2. If i were to flash it, never use it online and then return to the original firmware, could i still be banned?

3. A friend did a firmware flash a few years ago but has never updated the firmware since. Can he still play the new games? He never goes online

1: Best way to know is connect your xbox via the sata "xbox to power" and remember to Ground the xbox to Pc case.. Using Jungleflasher see if it detects your drive, if it does then your good to flash...

2: If you was to only play your Backups and not mod ISO's and game saves then yes, you can safely unflash the xbox, go back online and play fine, But if you was safe enough, you can play online fine with flashed console and backups, but if you dont patch and stealth games you will be banned..

3: Nope, The new games are XGD3, they require the new update to play, if you dont update the game will ask you to and wont be allowed play untill updated, Updating also "depending on your dashboard now" will unflash your xbox so if you have Old "green" dashboard and update with custom Firmware, it will be removed because a new firmware will be replacing it.

Just a another quick question regarding answer nr3. If the flashed xbox is updates the to the new dashboard and replaces the custom firmware, is this bannable? I read that you should revert to your original firmware before updating the dashboard, but i don't think he has it.

That is a good question, Well me personally went stock then updated "Always goto Stock before updating"
But also on another note, My 2 brothers and about 4 different mates all Updated from Flashed, I know because they all phoned me and I had to flash all there console again, I dont know if some have been banned because They sold there console But my 2 brothers not been banned..

But also I remember the Benq being nasty with update and Custom Fw, if im correct alot of benq couldn't Update with LT because they got a failed update error, So either way you'll most prob have go stock anyways so you may aswell go stock first..

Also The update deleted your Firmware and puts an update on one "why it unflashes" I dont think they scan the FW first, but I dont know", I can only give you the advice I know mate, sorry.. But anyone here will say and I quote "stock before Update"

Alright. Since we ended up updating the dashboard first (because he no longer had the orginal firmware), we found out later the lite-on with updated firmware required CK3 and probe to reflash. We don't have the tools or skills for that.

Lucky for us, my xbox had the benq. So i manage to flash that one and we simply swapped xboxes.

And btw, the intel p67 detected my benq just fine even tho everywhere i looked i was told it required VIA or Nforce SATA Chipset. I feel lucky and relieved.
