Hi

I have a MSI K9N Motherboard, in the manual it says it has 6 SATA connectors. I have downloaded and read 'Textbooks Xbox 360 Firmware Tutorial' but it doesn't have my motherboard listed, so I was just wondering if it was compatible with MTKFlash?

Also, I have a SATA cable, but it is connecting my HD to my Mobo, so I was just wondering if the HD is actually needed for the flashing process? And is there any way of getting around this problem, other than buying another cable?

Thanks alot

Owen

What type of drive are you going to be flashing? You mention MTKFlash so I'll assume it's a Samsung. If it's a ms28 you'll need to buy a VIA 6421 card, that's the only one that will work to bad flash it, otherwise you need to remove and solder the drive (VCC method).

If you are booting from a USB thumb drive or floppy then your harddrive isn't needed and you can remove and use that SATA cable. If you're using the NTFS4DOS CD method the harddrive is required.

Thanks for the advice, I have just been to buy another SATA cable, it was only £3 anyway.

So will my motherboard be alright if I have an MS25? And yes it is a Samsung.

Thanks

It looks like you have a Nvidia chipset so it should work for a ms25 but I can't say for sure. You can get a 6421 card for around $10 online though, probably a good bet either way. ;)

Ok, thanks alot!

And yes, on the box it says:

AM2, S940 nForce 570, 8CH HD Audio, dual Gigabit LAN, 6SATA RAID

So I think it does have an Nvidia chipset.

Thanks!
