A few questions about SX installer

I use SX installer 1.1 with Forwarder.

1. So if I add my own custom path for scanning and click save to confirm. Once I exit the app, it is not remembered.

2. If I add my own folders in the SXOS/XCI folders that it scans by default. It won't scan those folders? It only scans the root of SXOS/XCI?
You'd need to add every single path exclusively for it to scan?
If that is the case. I request you can set scan depth.

3. Speed of file browsing. If I place all my XCI in one folder it is accessed within a few seconds.
Now this is not an option for me since I have sorted them all into respectively folders ( single player/ local co-op, and respective metacritic scores)
So like every game is in its own metacritic score folder for example. 0-39, 40-49. 50,59 and so on)

This means that I have like 16 folders with games. And in local player i even have made sub section if a game supports 2P or 3 player or more.

So it turns out if you want to go "fast browsing" between all these folders and games. It takes for EACH folder directory change like 3-4 seconds.
EVEN if a folder has only a couple of files, is of no influence. Or if the folder has 100 files or more. Takes just as long to make a simple directory switch.
So why is it taking that long? It's not my HDD I know that. Brand new, and simple directory switches should be close to instant.

So my question is how is this possible? Is it a known thing, if not i'd like to bring to mind to you developers of the app to improve.
Thank you.

To point 1. try to add only custom path without spaces. This has resolved the problem for me.

Not working: something/switch games
Working: something/switch_games

2. You cannot separate you games into some many folders. It will only read the contents of specific folders, not sub folders. See below. They have not added any new folders that I know of.
  • /sxos/updates
  • /sxos/dlc
  • /switch/updates
  • /switch/dlc
  • /sxos/games
  • /sxos/xci
  • /sxos/nsp
  • /sxos
  • /switch/games
  • /switch/xci
  • /switch/nsp
  • /switch
That is how it is currently setup, May change in the future as more people organize their games differently.

3. Don't really have an answer for this one other then maybe they will add a faster scan function later. Most people just use the file structure above since once you install the games they will not show up on the switch home screen how you have them organized anyways.

I tried this sxos/xci/Single_Player

It didn't save the path...I use to try sxos/xci/Single Player. Doesn't matter.
Whats up with that?

I see so while it is possible to add many sub directories seperatly you can't add them all in one fell swoop.
I guess it wouldn't matter too much, but since my paths that i manually add are not saved. Im stuck to a single pre named path..

as for 3.
I tried today again to play around with it. sometimes it takes 3 seconds for directory change sometimes 5 secs other times it nearly freezes my switch in as much so that going back to the home menu or pressing power button is a slideshow... Unusable like this. Since there is no good way of categorising your games on the switch, folder level is where it needs to be done unfortunately.

I spend an entire day making the perfect organisation metacritic/local co-op and all now to find out its useless with SX OS :(
For now that is atleast.. I really hope this is picked up.

Well seems number 3 was just solved!
Sx installer 1.2 released and..

Now file browsing is INSTANT like it suppose to!

Hell yeah! <3
Love you guys.

Still number 1 and 2 are an issue.
Also I see these paths :

  • /sxos/updates
  • /sxos/dlc
  • /switch/updates
  • /switch/dlc
  • /sxos/games
  • /sxos/xci
  • /sxos/nsp
  • /sxos
  • /switch/games
  • /switch/xci
  • /switch/nsp
  • /switch
for some reason TWICE now?

Also if SX installer is opening and i have ANY XCI in the /sxos/xci folder it will not boot.
It will be stuck at scanning sxos/xci progress bar... For some reason.
I tried deleting the settings file but to no avail. I can't get the scanning function to work unfortunately.
