Complete noob here, but at least I've done some reading. Im trying to make a decision on which 360 modchip to go with. I own a 360 purchased March 9th, 07 so Im assuming that its not one of the easiest to firmware update. I'm waiting on a new case and 360 case opening tool kit before I even crack it open to figure out exact specifics on which drive and which model it is.

My main question really revolves around my extensive Xbox 1 collection, unfortunantly about 90 titles were stollen, and I have about 36 or 37 images of them still on Hard Disk on my XP machine (I never really took the time to dump the backups to dvd-r's as I played the originals/ originals copied to my hard disk via dvd2xbox. I'm waiting for my insurance to decide what amount of money I'm getting back, but thats another story.

What modchip gives me the best chance at playing both original xbox 1 roms and xbox 1 backups once written to SL dvd-r media. On this site, I've seen a couple articles talking about manipulating xbox1 roms to Dual Layer +R media, and then firmware updating the 360 dvd firmware (something I am under the impression that the newest 360 DVD drives are not as easy to achieve). Seems like a waste of costly DL media for a game known to fit on a 4.8 disc. Does a mod chip even apply here? If so, is there one that allows 4.8gig (SL) DVD -r's to play in the 360? (I understand they need to be on the backwards compatability list, but for the sake of this question, lets assume they are).

Thanks in advance. (Now on to reading more on the forums looking for hints and topics applicable)

What date you purchased your system on is irrelevant, it's what date it was manufactured. If the drive can't be flashed, a modchip probably won't help either.

look at the manfactire date above the serial number on the back of the 360. if it was made after agust 2006 chances are you have a 360 that cant be modded.

The Globe / NME may work on the Hitachi 79, but for sure they will not work on the BenQ.
