A quick CheckPoint homebrew question

Hey there. I'm planning to take a look at the CheckPoint homebrew app to backup my saves. Does this homebrew app copy the saves stored in the hardware to the sd card in a folder or the root?

I'm on v8.1.0. Is there any compatibility issue that I should be aware of? I looked up the forum but couldn't find anything helpful. I did lookup on Youtube but those videos are just bad, confusing, and no straight to the point.

It doesn't really matter what firmware you're on when you're backing up saves.

Place the checkpoint.nro inside the switch folder on your sd card. After you back up a save, a "checkpoint" folder will automatically be created with the saves you backed up inside of it. Drag them to your PC/Mac for safe keeping. You can restore them on your console, or another console (as long as it's hacked) at any time.

Is there another homebrew app that can backup save files? i'm not able to get checkpoint to work. As soon as I bring up the app, the screen turns red and it gives a message that I can't be on "applet mode". I have no idea what this means. I googled it up and nothing useful. Plesae shed some light. thanks

Load checkpoint regularly, you don't need to hold R while opening the album or an nsp or anything like that. SXOS has a built in homebrew menu. Just open the album like normal, then go to the "homebrew" tab. Open checkpoint there.

I had same problem — the author had some issue with applet mode a few versions back, and apparently solved them by not running it in that mode. The red screen is supposed to tell us we need to do it different...

...aaand I tried all that to try and NOT run in applet mode, and still always got the dumb red screen.

So, I rolled back to the version that doesn’t nag!

I ne’er had crashes or whatever he had problems with, old version works fine for me. I just moved some Links’s Awakening saves around flawlessly, so a-ok with recent releases, too.

Version 3.60 and I run SX OS 2.8 on 8.1 firmware in emunand.

So, what should I do? This checkpoint app is really crap. I did launch checkpoint from homebrew in sx os, and I'm still getting that sh*t red applet mode message. I'm on v8.1.0. That checkpoint app doesn't really work on v8.1.0 i suspect. and what the hell is applet mode?

TL;DR my previous post? Cool, I will be more direct:

Use Checkpoint version 3.60 instead.

Ok, for everyone having the red screen issue here´s what worked for me. 1) Select any game and press the A button to start it. 2) When required to select a user profile, press the R trigger button and simultaneously press the A button. Don´t release the R trigger. 3) You will be taken to the homebrew menu and there you´ll be able to run Checkpoint without any problems.

Using SX OS 2.9.2 / Checkpoint 3.7.2

Correct, the latest version of Checkpoint now requires more memory (it didn't when this post was made).

Now you will need to hold R while launching any nsp/nsz game. Keep holding R until after you choose your profile and the hbmenu with full RAM access will pop up. Launch your homebrew from there.
