A quick question..

Hi.. after trying to connect to Xbox live to update a new xbox's system settings for compatability with Xbox Live.. i noticed that i couldnt connect to the XBL.. the xbox im running is running in disabled mode..from X3CE.. on a v1.3.. with red indicator.. and everything runs like normal.. just when it trys to update the system.. i cant connect.. The system that i had before was just recently banned because i ran it accidentally with Mod chip on.. so what my question is.. is .. When you get banned from Xbox live due to System Modifications.. do they do a temporary or permanent ban of the IP address as well as the EEprom and HDD?.. because my network settings within 3029 do pick up a network.. and i can access FTP's from there.. however even though im running in disabled mode.. i cannot retrieve any updates "Xbox live cannot connect at this moment, Please try again later".. what exactly happens after youve been banned other than they banning your EEprom and HDD.. does anything else get restricted?.. or are you supposed to connect without worry if the Xbox hasnt been modified or is running in Disabled mode?..if anyone can explain to me what happens.. i would greatly appreciate it.. ^_^

Well, itll tell you if you got banned. Something close to "You have been removed due to modfications in the hardware" or some sh*t, happened to me before. You'll know if youre banned. If you have your XBOX running through a router, put everything to DHCP/ Automatic via X3 BIOS and M$ Dashboard.

How sure are you that the chip is off? The Red LED on the switch is only an indication - try booting a backup. If it loads with the chip 'off' then there's the problem.

Are you connecting through a router?

They can get the MAC of your router or switch and ban that.

But I agree with kimosabe

It sounds like your network config is horked up.
