Please excuse my dumb-ass. I have a question, and I know this forum is the best place to ask...
I have a buddy who is willing to give me an old xbox of his. I already have a flashed box, but I want a jtag. His manufacture date is june 07, and that's all I know so far. It rrod sometime after, and he remembers it still being on the blade style dash(prenxe). It was never fixed, and still shows rrod. I think I want the console, but only if its taggable. I don't want to fix the rrod only to find out its patched already.
I have read a bit about efuses. Can you tell when they're blown from an update? If I hook up a nandx, will it work to check the kernel; and can I write the nand even when its rrod?
Thanks in advance guys, and I appologize if this question is rediculous...

Yes you can dump the NAND from a RROD console and check the CB version. You can also write the NAND but that's pointless unless you get the console up and running and then you have something to flash back to it.

Checking the CB is ofcourse the only way to know 100%. But if it's manufactured 07 and have a blades dash then yes, it should be JTAG'able. The fuses were blown in 2.0.8498 if i remember it correctly.
