About to get my feet wet, a few questions....

I'm just about to buy my first (and hopefully only!) 360, and of course I want to mod it for backups. I've been doing some reading to get ready for this, and feel pretty confident.

When buying a new 360, does anybody have a best guess as to which model dvd drive I'll get? And if it's one of the two unflashable ones what are my options then?

Any vets out there want to share any common pitfalls I might want to expect/avoid?

I'm still maybe a week from purchase, so still reading and learning, but hoping to get a head start so I'm ready when I do bring one home.

you probably get a toshiba-samsung dvd drive

those are the most recent xbox 360

drives

the old ones are Hitachi.

so start to purchase a Via Sata card for your desktop

and read very carefully the Textbook tutorial.

and then when you get everything that the tutorial says to get.

ask questions if your unsure of something
