about to swap 250 gig to 4 gig

guys am about to swap my 250 gig xbox as it has one of the newer dvd drives in it. been offered a 4 gig and cash. with out opening it how can i get a rough idea of wat drive is in it.

At best it will be a Lite-on with an MXIC SPI.

At worst it will be a Hitachi.

Anything in between is either do-able or will be do-able shortly.

Open the tray to have a look and compare online. The MFR date of the console will also help in identification.

my 250 gig one has the DG-16D5S drive MFD is november last year the one i am swaping to is MFD 06-082010 not sure of the drive. i just hope its not the hitachi one. or there is no piont in swapping. is thee any way i can find out what it may be with out opening it as i dont wanna open it infront of the guy and find out its not wat i need

will be doing that today. not to happy about swapping a brand new xbox for a 3 year old one. but at least it gives the the option now to mod it.

Am pretty sure the one i am swapping to will be right am just about to go look. I have a 320 gig drive spare so will be flashingit with one of the tuts on here. thats been pretty helpfull

The Slim 4GB was introducedin August 3, 2010, so it's not 3 years old. but if it's one of the 1st models then it's definitely flashable

thats wat i was thinking that its not 3 year old. wont know till i look at it. but its defo one of the first ones. cant wait to get my hands on it and take it apart lol
