ACK! Won't power on - new XBox 1.6 with X3 LPC rebuild

I've just spent all day getting the parts and trying to install the X3 using the X3 1.6 pin header tutorial on this site, getting quite frustrated. I've soldered and resoldered, with the utmost care each time, to no avail, the problem is always nothing happens when i plug it in and hit the power switch (with the chip on)

If I remove the chip **and remove the "power/eject no solder adapter"**, it powers on fine, and hell i can even play top spin :) If I keep the power/eject no solder adapter on and try without the mod chip, same thing, no power, nothing happens.

The fact that it doesn't power on lead me to hook up the old trusty multimeter to the "power/eject no solder adapter" (short-formed to power thinger from now on). I found something I don't understand; the picture shows the 2-wire cable that goes from the power thinger to the X3 being plugged into the hole that's veritcal (the horizontal one is unused). So I tested the vertical one, to see what it's connected to. BOTH pins are BOTH connected to the bottom-leftmost and bottom-secondFromLeftmost pins on the power thinger's receptacle for the plug from the xbox power switches. How can this be? How can it be that each pin is supposed to be connected to the SAME TWO pins on the input? Can someone please test this and see if mine is broken or something?

Anyways. Please help - i'd like to get past having no POWER. :( Keep in mind it works fine if I take off the modchip and the power/eject thinger, so no nothing is busted, and my solder job can't be horribly wrong either. Also, I have reason to think that my solder joints aren't the problem...

On another note, what the hell is that potentiometer (round thingy on the corner) on the X3 ? What's it do?

HELP!

thanks

Try bypassing the reset/eject pcb as I think there's a fault with it.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW ! IT WOOOOOOOOOORKS!

sorry for the mass caps and screaming, but it was a first try thing - just took out the daughterboard, BAM, it works!

So thanks a lot for your help duder. I guess just tell me what i'm missing without the daughterboard: the ability to turn off the modchip? is that it? If so no worries, if not i might go back to my supplier and try to get another daughterboard.

Dude, I *fixed* the daughterboard !!! Wanna know how? I just took the sticky backing off the back of it ! I took it off, retested, and the pins weren't bridged any more. I ran some more tests, and the sticky stuff conducts trace amounts of electricity!!!

So, let your designers know they should either put some protective plastic on the back of the daughterboard, or use non-conductive glue.

To anyone out there, try taking off the backing...
