I have an Xbox 1.0 (yeah, it's old.. hehe). I just bought the X3CE. Here's my question(s).

For 1, last time i soldered something, it was my ps1 and I didn't do so good... basically I ruined it while trying to solder onto a spot similar to the D0 spot. Got any advice how to solder to this without screwing up the board?

2. Since my xbox is a 1.0, I still have the solder in all the pin header holes... would it be better to go with the wire install in this case, or remove the solder and use the pin header?

3. Should I just pay $50 in town to get someone to do it so I don't fx it up?

4. If you live in Vegas, how much would you charge me to do it and would you let me watch so i can learn? I hate being ignorant about this stuff...

I would do the pinheader install because the soldering you'll need to do is easier. Just get a solder sucker and suck the solder out.

For the d0 putting some solder on the wire or a dab on the iron, then holding the wire to the d0 as you touch the iron onto it works pretty well.

Thanks!
Oh, I forgot to ask 1 more question...

the X3 install guide is the same one for the X3CE right? From the pictures, they all look the same but no guide says it's good for the X3CE too.

Like I said, I'm not awesome at this stuff but I'm trying. =)

I'll try that out with the wire.

The only diff between the X3 and the X3CE is the alt 5v connector. Since you don't have a 1.6 box you can ignore that altogether so for your purposes it's identical.

Power button

I just finished up an install with my friends v1.0 Xbox and the Xecuter 3CE, and as soon as I hook up power, the thing comes on, and will not respond to the power button at all....it boots to the regular dashboard, and when I put in a game or something seems to mess up. I installed an X3 (not CE) on my v1.6 Xbox with no problems...also, it seems like there was alot more soldering in that install, cause I had the rebuild piece that I had to put on...does none of that matter on this one? Basically I just want to know where to look. I feel confident in my soldering, but can't think of what else to look at. Also, the eject button works just fine. Please help..
