Hey guys,

So I am about to purchase a JTAG console from the UK. Atm I am living in Europe The Netherlands. The guy has 3 JTAG's available, a Xenon, a Zephyr and a Falcon. All of em have RROD. Later on he will tell me what error code he has. I already own a few boxes R-Jtagged, RGHed, etc. But I've never owned a JTAG and I really would like one. Do you guys think I should purchase one? Or should I wait and find a working one. Because I really want one that is JTaggable and has Hdmi or JTagged. Do you guys have one for me? This maybe the wrong section to ask advice and if so, I'm sorry. Maybe I could fix them with the Xecuter RROD repair kit, if they are still manufactured...

Thanks guys!

If u have an R-jtag already that has quick boot times, then whats the point in getting a jtag? Also, an RROD repair kit will not repair a true RROD (E74, E18, E20 etc), they will need a proper reflow by a professional with proper kit. U could put an Ad up in the request for service section of this forum for anyone with a working Falcon/ jasper jtag.

Is 0102 a true rrod? And what RRODS does the repair kit fix? Thanks for the reply

I'd say that the RRoD kit only masks the problem. It isn't a fix. Don't rely on them because in my experience, they rarely work and if they do, probably not for long. They only put pressure down on the chip to reconnect loose connections. A true fix is a reflow (NOT A HEATGUN) or reball. Find a working console and have a CR4 installed for near instaboots.

i have several slims for sale with cr4 XL installed, they instaboots or take 2 glitches to boot, why you so specifically want a jtag console? Is it something like a collection of different consoles??

unless you have a professional rework station i would stay as far away from RROD consoles as you possibly can

i disagree with the falcon, a japser would be the ONLY phat model i would consider to be a best
agree.I wud say the jasper is the best out of all of the motherboards. Even slims get red dot issues and the dreaded dingers.
Thank you all for the replies! I really appreciate the support. I ended up not buying the console, I'm probably going to invest in a rework station + supplies. Jaspers are also probably way better then Falcons :). But thanks again for all the advise
