After a bad flash on off 2 times and FRAG

I've been trying to find out some answers with previous threads but nothing exactly matched what I have so I am writing this for help.

I have Xbox Ver 1.5 with X3. It's been working fine since the X3 release date, but today I tried upgrading my HD and bios and I am having a major problem with my box. First let me say that I've done the following to make sure that I am not doing something stupid,

1) All my solder points are sound. I've checked twice to make sure that I don't have any bad points.
2) 2 blue LEDs on the chip lit up.
3) Made sure that flash protection is off
4) External switch is removed for flashing.
5) When X3 removed Xbox boots fine.

The problem is that when I power up, I get 2 short bootup/off then FRAG.
I can go into FLASHBIOS 3.0.0, but none of the flash method works. The network update says "unknown flash! Halting". Yes, I've read that this could be related to the flash protection, but I don't see how this could be a problem when I can't flash either with or without protection on many times.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

Connect your switch back up, you can leave it on for flashing. Try both 1Mb banks. and of course, try it with your flash protect button off, (and if you get too frustrated try it "on" just for the hell of it)

Thanks for your suggestion, but after a close inspection of the chip, I found out that 2meg rom has been fried.
Well, I guess I gotta get another one.
