After a successful 5032 flash it reverts to Cromwell 3.0.3

I have a V1.0 Xbox and using a Xecuter 2.6CE. The Cromwell screen appears and initializes the devices and everything and I select the flash from disc option. Everything carries out fine and the Xbox turns off as it should. When I boot back up I'm back at the Cromwell 3.0.3. screen as if I never flashed it.

I've tried reburning the disc, tried a different chip, tried both banks 1 and 2, tried different disc drives, HD's. Interestingly the first time I tried bank 1 of the 2nd chip it said flash failed. I tried the same chip again and it "worked" meaning that it rebooted to Cromwell again.

Has anyone ever had this problem?

OK, I figured out what it was. I tried a different external switch and with the new one my xbox booted right up to the new bios and "xecuter rocks" screen and it works. Also the other chip works too, so I didn't waste a chip...sort of.

I evidently received a defective external switch because I also tried different wires and that wasn't the problem. I have two switches that work and one that doesn't. Curiously the LED On/Off switch is black on the non-working switch and it's white on the two switches that work.

Does anyone know if Xecuter will send me a different switch? because I have a working but useless chip if they don't. Or if someone has a working switch I'll sell you a chip for $32 shipped.
