I posted this in llama but thought I should post here in the chance that the failure is related to the x3 chip install:

I have a v1.4 recently modded with xecuter3 chip. Install completed successfully and xecuter 3 bios successfully flashed to chip.
After bios load, went to open dvd tray and found that it would not open (SAMSUNG 616). when I press the eject button, the led around the button remains green and no action occurs at all from the xbox.
I then tried some of the eject button, power button combos that xecuter has to change bios in an attempt to determine if any functions operated by the eject button were working. Basically, if I'm understanding correctly, when you depress and hold the eject button and press the power button, I think the xecuter takes you back to the MS dashboard. When I do this with my xbox, the unit turns off (as in all the unit recognizes is that the power button has been pressed and so it shuts down)
I opened the xbox and checked continuity across the eject switch with a multimeter and it appears to be functioning normally. I found 4 contact points on the back side of the switch (4 solder points) two of these points appear to be connected by a trace between them and they show shorted on a multimeter. The remaining two points show open from the first two until I depress the eject button and then they show short. This indicates to me that the eject switch works fine.
Does anyone know of other troubleshooting techniques or fault isolation techniques for this problem?
Does anyone know how to get the 616 tray open manually? Doesn't seem to be a place to push the door open with a paper clip as you could do with the old samsung 605 drive.
thanks.

I'll also add that I have two blue and one red LED lights on the card itself and the Xectuter led on the outside of the box is blue (so I think the install is good)

try removing the reset adapter board and plug the power/eject buttons directly into the mobo, if that fixes the eject prob it's definitly the adapter, otherwise try dismantling the power/eject buttons and clean them with some compressed air.

I thought about doing that and will try it but I don't think it's going to accomplish anything. The reason I installed the x3 is because the bios in the unmodded version of my xbox was dying. I think if I take the reset adapter board out of the picture, the x3 chip isn't going to function and I'll get a blue screen on the tv and no xbox activity. Correct?

thanks for speedy reply.

alright. I'll give it a shot. since my last post, I have put the samsung 605 back in (orig equipment) and it doesn't open either (didn't think it would but since I had the old dvd drive, wanted to be sure). But I am able to get that drive's door open manually. So my kids can at least load games until I solve this problem.

Anyone know how to get the 616 drive door open manually?
