Airflow improvement (RROD prevention)

I've been having red ring issues so I have been trying all different things to get it to stop. I have applied the xclamp fix (worked for a week or so ). Towel tricked it into working again . Then I put my coolermaster U3 underneath it which kept it pretty cool (or so I thought). This kept it working for a bit longer than the xclamp fix but the rings returned. My next idea is to put in case fans to improve air flow inside. I need an EXPERT on airflow I can make my own conjectures as a semi-experienced pc builder but an xbox is not quite the same.

Here is what I have in mind. Red is for hot blue for cold air. My house is always around 68-70 degrees. Also I won't have a problem connecting the fans so don't worry about that.

Thanks in advance :cool2:

air flow is not the issue it is failing solder on the bga's so no amount of airflow will help. your just rejuvenating the solder with things like the towel and baking trick and doing more damage in the long run by trying them to an already faulty console. its likely you have already warped the board beyond a proper repair by doing this stuff and i fail to understand why anyone does these so called fixes. makes less sense whan a reflow is about the same price as any kit or at most a few quid more

You have a refurb Xenon there, so best solution would be to get the GPU reballed.

NO AMOUNT OF AIRFLOW WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.

All you end up doing is owning a loud console.

The fact it's already hit RRoD, means the connections are already bad.

Get it fixed properly, increase fan thresholds in the SMC config and avoid adding any more hardware into an already crowded console.

if the air flow had been improved new out of the box it could have added ALOT more life to the Xbox before the RROD. Nothing you do can help it now. At this point start looking for a new one.

I say you should ditch that xenon (from what I can tell) and just get a jasper somewhere for cheap. I trust those things more than the slims, only thing I've really seen go wrong on a jasper is the laser dies after a while...much easier to fix than a red ring IMO

I had originally tried that and it cost me $40 and that fix lasted less than a year. I don't want to send it out every couple months just for another temporary fix. If that's the case I should've just bought my own heat gun.

Had you reballed originally it would have been more permanent. Plus a heat gun is not a proper reflow

I did not do it. I had it sent out and it had worked for awhile. It wasn't like I was watching what the person did all I knew was my red rings were gone.

Send it to someone reputable on here for a REBALL. A properly reballed xenon will last a long time. No use in wasting money on a Jasper- those fail too.
