hi,

i have a hitachi 47dj. is there anyway that i can get it to modeb other than the two wire trick, hotswap or slax? cos i cant get it to load into windows cos there's no firmware inside the drive. and cant open the tray. the original firmware is in my pc though. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

What do you mean there is no firmware inside the drive?

Unless the drive is already flashed, there is no other way to get it into modeB.

i didnt know i've extracted the firmware. and wasnt able to flash it. so i turn off both my console and pc to do back from scratch when i found out that i cant open my tray anymore and cant load into modeb. the firmware is in my pc, i havent flash anything to the drive so i presume that theres no firmware inside the drive. am i right?

ummm you shouldve read up some before flashing.. because dumping a firmware doesn't "empty" the drive... it'll allow the drive to work very well afterwards.

plus lack of information we can't help you.. what did you use, which firmware, which sata chipset..

seems to me due to lack of knowledge you possibly bricked a hitachi drive, which is prestige.

ang on a mo your post seems to make a bit more sense after a few beers, so your key is in xbins x-lg you tried to flash and it failed for some reason did it flash any ov the sectors from 1/9? as i understand it you should av flashed it again if it failed or restored your original firmware before shutting down, your firmware chip as now only some ov the hacked firmware written to it or none at all, like i said im no expert but everything went fine for me get in touch with textbook he maybe able to help you

im now thinking your firmware chip is without any firmware at all, but if you,ve got the key you should be able to spoof another drive to your mobo, unfortunatley sounds like an expensive mistake my friend, if that is the case let someone like textbook fix it coz if youve fooked the flash process you aint got a prayer ov doing the spoofing

No, that is impossible. It does not erase the tsop on the hitachi, it overwrites the sectors needed for the hack. If it does not complete or specific sectors fail, the drive will not work or respond. If this is the case, you can save the drive by sending it out to someone with a programmer and some soldering skills, have them desolder the tsop and flash it with working firmware.
