All X360's & Xone's chippable?

I used to chip original Xbox's WAYYY back when (this site was an incredible resource), but I guess I've been away & out of touch with the mod scene long enough to be considered a noob again. My main driver for chipping was to put in a big hard drive and store my owned games onboard with a launcher to keep from having to carry all the discs around. Tried poking around the various boards to catch up on the latest news, but there's an overwhelming amount of stuff here. 2 primary questions to get started again:

1 - Late in its life, X360 introduced the downloadable games feature but I still have a ton of disc based. I remember at some point certain dashboard updates would patch out ability to do any chipping. From memory, I *think* I have a phat Jasper but I'll have to confirm. Do the latest and greatest chips now work regardless of firmware rev, or is it still limited?

2 - Ditto question for Xone. Every single game I own for it was purchased via M$ download, but I'm interested in possibly chipping for homebrew apps. The "old school" gamer in me would love to be able to play some of my legacy PC RPG's via DOSbox & things like that. Would also be super cool if someone developed an app to run the original Xbox disc games too, although Microsoft themselves may do that since they adopted a built-in X360 emulator.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to diving back in the mod scene.

If you are looking to play games via dosbox on the xbox one, you dont need to mod it, as there is an official dosbox release for it you can buy from Live. As for emulators, there is a hack that works via the browser, so you go to a special website, and can play your roms off you windows cloud share account.

If your xbox is indeed a phat jasper, you can certainly mod it with something like Rgh 1.2 or R-Jtag.

Finally got around to digging deeper into what I actually have. By manufacture date on sticker it should be a Jasper, but the plug type definitely matches online plug pictures for Xenon/Zephyr.. Here are details, including confirmed dashboard rev if it matters:

Mfr 2009/04/14
Serial 005256361607
Product 77093122005256361607
Xenon/Zephyr plug type
DVD: Philips Lite On Model DG16D2S

Dashboard
D: 2.0.17511.0
K: 2.0.17511.0
BK: 2.0.1888.0

Does any of that change anything in terms of what I can/can't do with one of the Xecuter chips?

Thanks!

Will look in the Xbox app store for Dosbox. Thanks for the tip there. And can you give more detail on browser hack for X1 emulator, or does that cross into an area not allowed on this forum? I'm not looking to discuss piracy or anything illegal for sure, but it still may be off limits for generalized discussion. Thanks!

Hey all. Been a while. I did look at these threads & they were very helpful. I ended up paying the $20 & joined the Microsoft Developer program too. Now I'm able to get My Xone in developer mode & I successfully installed Nintendo 64 emulator. However, the performance is HORRID. Jerky video & clipped sound make the games almost unplayable. But it's been fun learning different, unrelated things through the developer resource links provided by Microsoft on registration.

Still haven't accomplished my initial goals though. DOSbox has evidently been pulled from Xbox store (although there is a Windows version available), but I haven't been able to find PlayStation or original Xbox emulators anywhere. I may be missing the boat on the browser exploit. Maybe it is somehow used so the PC emulators will work on XOne? Need to do some more digging, but will gladly read clarification comments here that others may offer.

Thanks!

If it is a xenon, then you really cant do much with it. If it is a zephyr, R-JTAG can work, but I have found them to be unreliable. If it is infact a jasper, than those are my faviorate consoles for modding. They last forever, and there are 4 different RGH type hacks that work on them at that dashboard(R-JTAG/R-JTAG+/R-JTOP, RGH2.0, RGH1.2, and S-RGH). Some work better than others, but every console is different, so what works great on one console might not work as good on another console of the same type.

Check out this new thread:

And their official site: http://www.xb1emu.com they have collected together all the various pulled emulators, but sadly they are 'charging for them', their own online store.
