Alternative JTAG points

Hey guys, been a while since iv had a problem.. although my luck finally ran out !

So here I am.. ill start explaining...


I recently have been doing a few hardware mods to my box and one of which iv removed the dvd drive and replaced it with a big ass fan..

Im currently using the alternative JTAG points.. which does include soldering onto the dvd drive eject trace... so what iv been noticing happening is instead of E79, or ejecting my tray.. it boots me directly into freeboot...

Which is better than E79... although I would like to avoid having to do a power cycle everytime this happens (which seems to be the only thing that fixes it and get it booting normally).


So my question for you guys is... I had this "idea" to attanch a led at the end of that wire.. so in theory would just bulb up everytime it needed to pop the tray out..

What do you guys think ... ?

On a side note I do own a falcon, which is HDMI.

are you sure you mean it boots into freeboot....or do you mean it boots into xell? (blue screen with your CPU key)

from what I've read and understand, the falcons/HDMIs do this when you take out the dvd drive....but I THINK you can fix it when you flash using JTAG Tool (it has the option of no dvd drive)

Well my bluescreen reads freeboot.. but I guess its XeLL..

Also.. I have flashed it with the no dvd drive option.. although it still does happen at times..

hmmm, sorry I can't help out.....because I honestly had the same problem with my falcon (never tried removing the dvd drive again after flashing with the "no dvd drive")

jtag tool has a new option were you can flash the need with out a dvd drie? check it out

Im guessing you didnt read above.. iv tryed that. still randomly happens.
