Get someone else to do it. Seriously.

The process is easy but you need to be able to solder micro-electronics and it's VERY easy (as you'll see from the many posts) to mess it up.

Back you up on that Martin.

If you are really going to attempt it. I recommend finding a broken mobo and practising on it until you are confident. Try removing and replacing resistors and other small components.

Remember do not rush. Use flux. Fine tip and magnifying setup if you have one.

Luckily my first job sent me for a GNVQ level 2 in soldering. And all we did is practice, practice, practice. If you do not feel comfortable then send it to someone here.

Soldering set a side buying the tools to do it will cost you a bit and the head ache to trouble shooting specially when you are blind at this most likely isn't a first time job.

send it off to a pro. i think uve rather pay $70 then pay $200 for a new console or more depending on what u have. if uve never solder in your life then dont take the chance. all togetther for all the equipment 20 for soldering iron , 40 for nand x , coolrunner cable 5 , and 20 for coolrunner. total 85 so u willl save by sending it off to a pro in the long run

If you do some reading you will find all answers and won't have any questions, I never had any questions on my first 2, I just did a lot reading and more reading.... but I have been soldering for over 28 years.

You want to do it properly and without screwing anything up, take the time to read.

EVERYTHING you need to do it is right here. Hell, I did my first RGH when there were no real tools to do it, using a 3rd party Xilinx coolrunner board and a python script or two. That also included building a programmer from scratch. All I had to follow was a PDF.

The fact you're still asking for pointers when there are noob tuts left right and centre as well as easy apps to do the creation of the ECC and rebuilt RGH image is worrying. Don't scrimp on reading as it'll pay dividends later.
