Ya, I'm j/w if anyone wants to donate an Xbox motherboard (working please).

If not donate, then sell for cheaper than $80. I don't have the money to buy from llamma, so if anyone out there wants to be a good friend and donate one.....please tell me.

Thanks a WHOLE lot.

well whats wrong with the 1 u have? sounds like u f**ked over an installation, besides theres still a good chance that it's fixable, explain the problem, and I know u can find som1 who will repair it for cheaper then a new 1, don't get ur hopes up on a Board Donate, as u can see parts are valuable, so unless all ur askin for is a set of controller ports, ppl usually just don't give things away

I think my damage is all on the back near the d0 point. While I was soldering this point I damaged the trace above and below it. The trace below it was easily fixable. On hte one above it though, I lifted a point on one of the terminal sides.

I was able to rebuild the point by scrapping away some of the green stuff around it so that I could reach some copper. I soldered the wire to this point and the other end one.

To actually rebuild the traces, I brigded the terminal points with magnet wire that had been stripped at the ends. To make sure that the wires didn't move while I finished the point, I put some hot glue over it.

When I checked my mobo for problems, those were the only two traces I found that were disconnected (that were sposed to have continuity of course)

Do you think you could really repair this sort of damage....?
Personally I think its toast, but I'm not an electronics engineer.

Thanks.

It's possible the trick is to find alternate solder points and make your own trace via wire like you attempted. I know for a fact I can rebuild the traces but the glue cound lift some copper if I try to remove the glue. Which poses the next question. Is the part you glued down a known working repair if so then your okay and I need not worry about that part if it. Have you taken a ohm meter and tried to buzz out all the traces to see which ones work and which ones not. As long as the chip aren't jacked and there is some places to solder to i can fix it. I can do a rebuild board and rebuild the traces but I am concerned that this glue might have been this boards final blow. Still send the pics and I will check it out and let you know. !!!! I pmed you the email address.

Did'nt I tell you this is harder than it looks? Now my $100 install price looks cheap huh? When I charge $100 for an install and I f**k it up..I Install a brand new MOBO. And I warranty the install(and the rest of your box for a year. It costs less than M$ warranty plan for 1yr. Perhaps a valueable lesson is learned. A lesson in false savings. If you do not have ALOT of experience DO NOT TRY A CHIP INSTALL. Even the Xapt3r Requires A degree of skill to use. LET A PRO DO IT ONCE AND DO IT RIGHT. Must I repeat myself?

I dont doubt you're an expert bnbolic but why did you first try to mod an xbox? The guy has made an expensive mistake but your I told you so's aint helping. I personally would rather screw it up and pay the price than let someone scare me into not trying.

I'd encourage someone who wanted to do their own install to watch a pro do one, research the information on the site, and then if they feel confident, do their own. That's how I learned back in the day!

@bnolic

its still been a lot cheaper than your install this way. i finished the install on my own and the only problem is two traces on the back.

LOL anyone that feels like they need to get an installer to do it because they have been bullied into thinking so just needs to do a little research! Look at the tuts here, I highly recommend practicing on an old radio before solding onto a $150 sytem! Trust me when you do it your self it feels much better then dishing out all that extra cash for someone to do a 10 min install.

P.S. I moded my first box without and soldering skill and did it with no problem. Now my second was a pain in the ass as im a shaky person but again it worked.

Oh and if anyone is looking for a cheap fix or for excellent pricing.
check out this guy here at http://www.xboxrepairguide.com
Oh and he has a 1 year optional warranty for $15
