my friend says his xbox just turns on by itself. and turns off after about 20 minutes. even when he turns it on to play, it cuts off after about 20 minutes. any one ever heard of eanything like this, btw his xbox is stock

yeah, if it is stock most likely its overheating. ask you friend if the eject light goes red/ green, or red, or orange, or flashes or anything, and also does a error come up on the screen? and are there any clicking noises? lol these are all problems i have had. lol
i dont know i thought of overheatin too but for it just to come on by itself like that??? i dunno. i dont think any error comes up cuz he plays it for a lil bit and bout 20 minutes later it cuts off

Yeah send it back to M$, or try pointing and fan at it and if turns off you know its overheat and he might have dust bunnies or something sick like lizard or something in it. Somewhere on some site over the rainbow theres a thread and they post wierd stuff they found in there 'Box, I have found a furrball in one and a LIVE centaped in another the second one right out of the box.
