Anyone experiencing TV connection problems?

Hi.
Anyone had any problem using the dock to connect the Switch to the TV? Everything I read so far points to a faulty dock or Switch or a strange combination of disconnecting all the cables, wait and then connect them in a very specific order.
The strange thing is that, and bear in mind I have no real proof of it, it worked before upgrading OFW to 6.2 and even later on with SX OS 2.4 beta. Most likely completely unrelated, but I wanted to check within the community if someone had any ideas on this.
Thanks a lot for the support.

I have not had any issues with 5.1 and up to SX 2.4.1. I would agree with most of the post and say its something with the dock or cables. Are you using an official Nintendo dock?

switch is notorious for not playing well with third party docks,so im curious here as well.

I'm using an original dock and I tried different HDMI cables so I'm becoming more and more suspicious it might be something with the dock itself.

Hi.
So, I sent the original dock (still under warranty) for repair but in the meantime I bought a hub from TUTUO to see if a 3rd party hub would do the trick. I read that some might brick the Switch but this one came out as one that had no such feedback. I got it yesterday and connected it to the TV and to the Switch. Unfortunately I still get the same "No signal" warning. The only caveat here is that I don't have the original power supply (had to go with the original dock) so that might be an issue.
Is it "impossible" that Nintendo somehow, in 6.2.0 managed to block this feature when using CFW? It sounds a bit farfetch but this was indeed working fine until 6.2.0...
Thanks for the support.

I'm having the same issue after i start using SX OS (1.5 week ago). I never had any issues getting a signal on my TV but now i have to disconnect and reconnect the switch to the dock a few times before it works. I use the original dock and tested it with multiple HDMI cables. No problems in handheld mode.

Firmware 6.2.0 using SX OS 2.5.2

Hi. I just got the original dock back from the store and I was informed it has no problem. So, I drove home and tried it again. I tried on 2 different TVs, using direct HDMI cable and also using OFW 6.2.0 and CFW 2.5.2.
Nothing works.
I'm now starting to be afraid that the whole 6.2.0 FW upgrade somehow had an impact on this...I know, it sounds stupid but the facts are what they are... :-(
Anyone with ideas on things to try out? If the problem is indeed with the Switch, having installed SX OS voids the warranty right? Any way to "disguise" that from Nintendo?

Thanks for all the support.

Does this problem exist when you boot into stock firmware?
Switching to stock firmware did not fix the issue. But when i took the switch to friends this saturday to play for a few hours my switch crashed (forgot to remember the error code). After this reboot the TV connectivity issue was gone. Today i did not have any issues on my own TV. Very strange because during troubleshooting this issue i did reboot my switch.

In my case I completely switched off my NS to boot using OFW and then SX OS so, I guess my case might be slightly different...?

Is there any way to get some kind of logs that might shed some light on why the TV signal is not going to the TV as it should? Could it be that the Switch has some problem that might prevent the signal from going to the TV?
Thanks.

If you have a clean nand backup that would for sure be the best way to wipe things, but no one is really sure what they would actually be looking at if you sent it back for repairs.

It sounds like something happened with the usb-C port at this point, from what I read here. I highly doubt a software update broke it, but that is possible. If you are familiar with a multi-meter maybe you can test the connector. You can physically check the port too, maybe something is stuck in there, like fuzz or something. Sounds dumb, but its happened to my phone before. Granted that goes in my pocket.

Thanks imprezgc8.
In fact, I called Nintendo's customer service and they immediately said I should send the Switch together with the dock for analysis. Now, I didn't make any nand backlup prior to installing SX OS so, dumb question, there's no way I can somehow hide the fact I installed SX OS from Nintendo, is there?
One final thing: what's the worse that can happen? They say my warranty is void and case closed or are there reports of Nintendo going the extra mile and do something additional to that?
Thanks for all the support.

I honestly can't speak on what they would do, but imagine that they cannot keep your property. So they would probably just say your warranty is void and send it back.

Hmmm, obviously don't send your SD card that has all your game backups and homebrew. Other than that you can try to use the Nintendo recovery menu to wipe the switch. I am not sure if that actually reformats the nand completely, but it will definitely reset the switch back to factory defaults.

Of course backup your saves and what not before doing anything.

Thanks imprezgc8.
I found one guy at work with a NS and a working dock so, on Monday I'm going to try out a new dock and have this guy try my dock with his NS. That should allow me to see if I have a semi-damaged USB port on my device.
I'll keep you posted on the outcome of this.

Thanks again for the support.

Hi.
Quick update. So, it's confirmed, the problem is with the USB port of my son's NS. Dock works fine with another NS. After some help figuring out what might be the issue it seems (still to be confirmed) that the USB-C port only has 2 pins working, allowing it to be charged but not pass data to the TV.
I'm having it checked to see if it's something minor or a full USB-C replacement. As soon as I know more I'll post here. Maybe it helps other users facing the same problem.

Thanks.

Hi. So, finally after some weeks I have some news.
I eventually sent my kid's NS to Nintendo through an official repair company. Nintendo support didn't say anything about it being hacked. I'll get it tomorrow but from what I could gather they changed the board and some other pieces. It was confirmed that it's now working properly connecting to the TV. As soon as I get it and hopefully get the repair report I can share what they did.
Ahead of receiving it I'd like to ask your support with the following (maybe pointing me to the right tutorials):
- How can I verify if my kid's NS is still hackable?
- Should I backup NS's NAND?
- Should I follow the same procedure to install SX OS as the 1st time?

Thanks a lot for the support you guys gave me on this issue.

To know if it’s still hackable, just follow the guide that is pinned here in the support forums.

Backing up your nand is always advised.

The steps for installing SX OS is still the same.

Good luck.

This Guide is the quickest way to tell if you can still mode you Switch. Unfortunately if they swapped the board I believe you would need to purchase a new SX license. Not sure what SX is checking to make sure the license is valid for the Switch it's being used on. Just the license though as they are not transferable.

Hi.
Just did the test and found I now have one patched NS. :-( How do you explain this to an 8-year old? :)
Guess now I can only wait for TX to release something for these patched ones.
Thanks for the help guys.

That's true Game_Over. A huge difference I see between my days playing games and my kid, is the amount of fun I'd get from one single game as opposed to how easy they switch games just because a new one got out or their friends started playing a different one... They "eat" games like peanuts...
But I'm getting off-topic here...sorry.
Thanks again for the help.
