Anyone out there have a HD they want to give / sell to me? I currently have the stock HD in my xbox and would really like a bigger one! It's doesn't have to be huge, just something bigger then 40GB.

yea, newegg.com check for OEM in the selling line. Much cheaper, but no fancy packaging or instructions.

No I know, I buy all my stuff from newegg. In fact I just bought 200 Ritek DVDs from there. But I just want to buy a cheap used one that someone is not using. Why pay $60 for a new one if someone is willing to sell a used one for way less?

True. OK let me ask this, when I install the new HD, how do I format it? I'm sure it's as easy as booting up with a boot disc (I use Slayer's) and choosing the option to format right?

I wouldn't buy a used HDD off of a stranger...

new ones are so cheap...
In fact you should not talk to strangers

I would check with a local computer shop as they may sell used/pulled HDD's. But do not pay no more that 50 cents a Gig.

Dont buy it used - you never know if there was something wrong with it to begin with.

aggreed. When the difference in price is going to be nominal at best...

It'd chap your ass if you had it for 6 months and it went south...

Get a Maxtor or a Western Digital...

A little more that 50 cents a gig but it's worth it!

What’s wrong with used, I did not say buy it off EBay where you defiantly do not know what you are getting (Lead Weight). If you buy it from a reputable local shop with some kind of guarantee you should be ok usually 30 days Warranty. I for one before I sell a used drive run the drive through SpinRite 6.0 to be sure that it’s ok. If it does not pass it becomes a Data Recovery Spare.

If the guy is tight with the dough then that is his only choice. I personally do not buy used except for small drives (for data recovery purposes), but then again I can afford to drop some cash on a new large big ass hard drive with all the latest bells and whistles.

My HDD preference: Seagate – Maxtor – Samsung – Fujitsu (Laptop) – Toshiba (Laptop) - Hitachi (Laptop)

Ok - I'm gonna make this as clear as possible:

The Xbox comes with an min. 8gb HDD as standard. This is more than enough room to store another dashboard, XBMC, Apps etc.

The only reason you'd want a bigger HDD is to store other types of media - movies/games/etc.

May I remind you all, both of which you have to own the original to legally store them on your HDD anyway. If the guy's short on dough to buy new, then I suggest subbing his next 2 / 3 games purchases in favour of a large HDD. The cost of 2 games would easily cover the cost of a pretty good sized HDD.

I'm not short on dough, just don't want to spend any more money on the xbox then I already have. I guess the 10GB I have is enough. Just wanted to put more ROMs on, that's all. I'm sure I'll be good with the 10GB.

You can get every Nintendo game ever and it'll still be around 2 gigs...

Every Snes game is around 4 or 5...

Unless I'm missing some:)

Well I wanted to put a full MAME set on. I haven't actually tried a MAME emulator. What is the best one, MAMEox?

no no, I meant what the best MAME xbox emulator was. I'm deep into the normal computer emulation scene, and have full sets of everything. I was just asking what the best MAME emulator was for xbox. I know MAMEox is the main one, but it's way behind. Are there any better ones? Oh and if anyone is interested, check out my site, www.mightymo.net
