Anyone tried the alternative JED with Slims for shorter CPU_RST wire?

Noticed this yesterday and am curious if anyone else has tried this yet.

The guy that compiled the new JED's (cornnatron) with the +1, +2, -1, and -2 changed WIDTH_RESET_START values for the CPLD claims he was able to shorten his CPU_RST wire to 1 inch on his slim and get boots in 5-15 seconds.

When I tried with the Slim I have, I could not reproduce this constantly.. I flashed +1 to my CoolRunner and went down to a cable that was like only 6 CM and had the first 2 boots in under 10 seconds! Then could not get it back to that point, tried flashing the coolrunner with all variations without luck.

Curious if anyone else has experimented with this yet.

The link on xbox scene where there is a link to the JED files is here in this thread:

No one else try this yet?

Surprised, with the possibility of not needing to mess with CPU reset wire length on Slims there has not been more interest in this..

I gave it a shot last night with a tempermental slim I have (it's actually mine, which is good!).

To cut a long story short, no go. I cannot get this damned thing to glitch consistently using either method. Stranger still, it only seems to glitch when set to 'phat'. I'll play around with it more over the weekend but might give the POST QSB a go too.

That does not surprise me, I messed with this more with another Slim and got just as erratic results as my previous attempts.

I tried several different reset wire lengths with all the adjusted lenghs (+1,+2,-1,and -2) (smallest possible to larger (35+ cm)) and the most consistent results I can get are the default values for the Trinity JED with the long wire length. Any of the other values I can get boots but they very GREATLY in time to boot.

O'well it was worth a try.

you just have to keep telling yourself no matter how bad it is, its not as bad as having a zephyr. those things are a nightmare. i'm in for 2 so far.
1 glitched xell first time booted 14604 dash once when the dash was first written back and never again in somewhere between 100-200 boot attempts.
2 glitched xell first time again. boots dash 1 in every 10 power cycles but occasionally will boot first time to dash. you can leave this console glitching as long as you like but if it it doesn't glitch on the first attempt its not going to so repeated power cycling is the best way to get it to boot.

i'm just glad it was a freebie for a friend and he was here through the entire struggle over 2 days. the original console ended up swapped for the 2nd and is currently awaiting being swapped again and the next available falcon or better to come along. its taught me i am never attempting another zephyr again :mad2:

i've also had one slim that will glitch but after many attempts and no wore length or cap made the blindest bit of difference. several have gone great though. its very strange behavior like you say martin from a mass produced piece of kit.
