there is no reason for the hdd to be locked unless you use xbox live, in fact it's recommended that if you don't use xbox live that you don't lock the drive

JTAG XBOX noob quiestions

Hello to all. I've had a xbox from less than 2 months. its from 2006 xenon and i think about jtagin it. Im not into the whole modding stuff so its just that a friend of mine told me that its way better to have an JTAG Xbox. So i have a bunch of questions... um they are kinda dumb.

Is JTAG suitable for Xbox Live ?
If you get banned can you unban yourself ?
You can do that as many times as you like and nothing will happen?
Do you need an Xbox Live Membership to be able to play online any game you want?
I heard that you can use HDD's from Laptops is that true?
If yes where is the hdd ? in the case that has the normal xbox hdd?

P.S. Im srsly lost in this whole JTAG thing... im not interested in linux... xell or what ever that stuff is only the cool parts xD

P.S.2 sorry for the bad English

P.S.3 i think i broke a rule "-_-

Re: JTAG XBOX noob quiestions

If you use jtag, forget about xbox live, however you can play online with xlink kai (kind of like system link over wan)
Once jtagged, you can use any size hdd you want, just swap it out of the original M$ case and format it from the dashboard.
Alternately, you can also run games from a usb hdd, I myself have a 1TB usb hdd I run my games from.
As for unbanning, forget it, you need a donor keyvault and cpukey to even try it and eventually, you will get banned again anyways, so whats the point?
Long and short of it, really, keep a console for xbox live play and if you wanna use your jtag online, use xlink kai!
(just my opinion, others would disagree)

Re: JTAG XBOX noob quiestions

M$ = Microsoft
The dollar sign can be inserted in the place of the letter "S"... Micro$oft, M$ (Microsoft): used to emphasize the allegation that Microsoft has business practices that focus on making money rather than producing good products or looking after the end user's needs and interests. Microsoft was convicted under United States anti-trust law of taking unfair advantage of its monopoly position. Also criticized for taking advantage of loyal customers and upgrading products annually for an expensive price. See also: Criticism of Microsoft. A relevant misspelling is had in Microsoft's founder's name, Bill Gate$.
Anyways...

JTAGed consoles are not safe on Xbox Live - but consoles flashed with iXtreme LT are safe on XBL at the moment (assuming your games are property created).
