some where
EEprom works like a mac address. Say if your mac address is banned from some where, the only fix for this is to change your nic card because you cant manualy change your mac address because that is the burned address on the card, same thing with your EEprom you cant change its serial # the only fix is to change the chip itself. but i dont think your friend would be very happy about you ripping his EEprom out.
(i think thats how it works), pretty positive tho

so how do people get unbanned??? If your saying you cant overright a eeprom...So what the hells the point of backing up your eeprom to your x3 or loading eeprom from x3 if you cant do anything with it unless you "remove the chip" as you say it. Don't give out false info like that...yes you can get unbanned by taking a eeprom from another xbox never touched by live and you may also have to get a new hdd but im not totally sure on that.

E74 tried most things help??

Hi All,

I have been having issues with an xbox and the dreaded E74! ok first of all the xbox 260 froze up and i had no tv output but i did have sound. there were no RROD at this point. it is a newer board and so when i replaced the x-clamps i had to drill the metal under case and then add the washers and spring washers etc. i also cleaned up the chips and heatsinks and then reapplied the Thermal Paste. put it back together and the xbox was fine for about 3 hours constant use which was a day or so after i got the sucessful repair the E74 code came up (bottom right red light). Dont know why and i have searched the internet already for answers. i have re-done the above again and also reflowed the board with a hair dryer but no luck i still get the red light in bottom right.

doesnt anyone have any ideas?? i did find that until i pluged in tv cable or hdmi cable the green light was on and seemed ok but as soon as the cables are plugged in we go back to the red light! its driving me mad!

Thanks!

hair dryer won't do anything for you, it doesn't get hot enough to melt the
solder.

get a real heat gun and do the reflow correctly
